it was all black for a second. nat knew she'd hit the ground, hard. she had died. then how was she thinking this? black flashed in and out with memories of her life and the feeling of continuous falling overwhelmed her. "this has to be heaven" was all she could think. her memories got to the end. she relived herself jumped off the cliff. she watched herself lose her life at the bottom. but then it all went extremely white. so white she felt she had to squint her eyes. a blinding light shone right on her as she shielded her face. after a second of pain the light vanished. and there she was again. right at the top of the cliff. though this didn't feel like a memory of her life anymore. this felt oddly real. suddenly the black shadow which had guided her before appeared from the distance. " i don't know how" he began, "but you have been spared." he looked straight into her eyes not letting the stare break. those words flustered her and she quickly looked at the ground. "it's not possible" she said, "i died. end of story" she finished staring sadly at the ground. "end of story huh?" came a voice from behind the shadow. she knew that voice anywhere. "steve?" she questioned looking far into the distance to see him. his figure emerged out of the dark and he walked faster as they got closer. she began to walk towards him too. their eyes never left the others. they both started to run towards eachother and when they finally got to eachother, nat jumped into steve's arms and he spun her around as they kissed for what could've been forever. he finally put her down and they stood, their faces just inches from the others.
-steve's point of view-
her eyes looked like diamonds as we stood staring at eachother. i could feel her heart open to me and even though we didn't speak yet it was like she had told me everything. "i thought i'd lost you! i thought i'd never see you again!" i said pulling her in tight for a hug. i missed the feeling of her arms, the warm ness they gave me even on the coldest of nights we had spent together. "you really thought you could get rid of me that easy?" she said making us both laugh, but tears were streaming down our face. we continued to laugh at eachother while sobbing because we knew we looked foolish. i grabbed her hand and laced her fingers through mine. it's been forever since i'd kissed her like that. i hope she remembers the feeling. -nats point of view-
i had never kissed anyone like that before. i mean sure i've kissed LOTS of guys but no kiss has ever been like this. i forgot how warm it felt in his arms. forgot how we used to spend every night together, trying to keep the other warm. i stared into his bright blue eyes. i'd never noticed those little golden specks in them before. -back to normal point of view-
"cmon let's go back home nat!" everyone is waiting!" steve yipped excitedly. "steve..." she said staring at the ground, "no win comes without an everlasting price. what'd it cost?" the mood changed dramatically as single tears fell from steve's eyes. "well i thought we lost a lot more up until now" he said staring into her eyes. he wasn't ready to talk about it yet. and he was pretty sure she wasn't ready to hear it yet. they quickly arrived back on earth. "steve... where is everyone?" nat asked looking around. "everyone went to say hi to everyone that blipped. they'll be back soon" steve answered walking off the platform. nay glanced to her left and her eyes widened and her jaw dropped. "headquarters... what... what happened? that was my house steve." her voice began to crack and he knew it was only going to get worse. he pulled her in close and hugged her, "shhhh it's ok nat. you can stay at my place as long as you'd like." steve stared at the battlefield with tears in his eyes. she followed his glare to the empty battleground and her eyes began to burn. he turned back to her but she looked away. she knew. she knew what it cost. he put her hand on to her shoulder as she silently sobbed into her hands. after a few minutes she melted to the ground sitting on only the dirt and weeds below her. steve was in shock. he'd never seen her like this before. he had no idea what to do. he sat down next to her as she bawled into her hands without making a sound. he put his arms around her and whispered "it will be ok i promise." hearing her break down only made it harder for steve. the tears poured their way out of his eyes as they sat together in the woods. both of them silently going through the worst pain of their lives together. after what seemed to be hours of sitting there they'd both calmed down. steve slowly stood up but nat didn't want the moment to end. he'd helped her though it. she'd helped him though it. but he didn't leave. he walked to a bag nearby and took out a large picnic blanket. he softly laid it down next to her and sat on it. she moved into the blanket and sat as close to him as possible. they both stared into space almost forgetting they had just sobbed their hearts out until every muscle in their body ached. steve felt his lips being pulled by some force straight to hers. he looked straight at them. she felt his stare and looked straight back right into his eyes. their lips were now inches away. they both closed their eyes and let their lips gently kiss the other pair. the kiss started as a gentle g rated peck. the minutes went on and their lips only separated for oxygen. it turned into an r rated kiss. they laid back on the blanket together and rolled around. steve hugged her tighter than ever before. he'd missed this. he missed the way her body felt. the way it perfectly fit into his body when they were together.
