Ink Cursed
Chapter 3
Slipping into my costume easily this time, I pull on the tail hanging from the back of my costume. Gulping, I straighten the costume, pulling the lace into right position, unsure of whether to wear this or not.
"I'm coming in," Sam announces, pushing my room door wide open, only to lay eyes on me. Feeling uncomfortable, I push speechless Sam towards her costume lying on my bed, ordering her to dress up as well.
"You know I hate it when you don't say anything about things. You always make me unsure," I hiss, examining myself in the mirror.
My hair is wavy and resting on my shoulders. Deciding an up-do will be ten times better, I grab a mini black clip and place my hair into a twisted bun with a short wave of hair falling on my bare shoulder. Turning around in my costume, Sam looks at me with an accepting smile.
"You look really good, Kam. And I mean it," Sam says, pulling her doll dress onto her body. She ties it from the back before walking over to me.
"And you look really good too, Sam," I say, a bit envious of how she looks in the dress. It really compliments her figure and the colors really bring out the vibrant side of her. She turns around in her dress, bows dancing delicately around with her.
Both of us stare at ourselves in the mirror then look at each other.
"I'll do your makeup first," Sam says, grabbing me by the shoulders and placing me onto her bed. She grabs eyeliner pencils and mascara tubes from a plastic bag, pursing her lips. "Now don't blink," she says quietly, drawing eyeliner around my eyes.
"Why am I even putting on makeup if my face is going to be covered with a mask anyway?" I ask slowly, making sure not to aggravate her as she draws eyeliner across my eyelids.
"You think you're going to keep it on forever?" she asks, smiling bitterly.
Sam curls my eyelashes with mascara, turning the mascara in directions I thought were impossible. Then she smears some lip gloss onto my lips. I realize she's going to make my eyes smoky as she powders eye shadow onto my face, and I close my eyes.
In ten minutes, she's all done with me and I look in the mirror.
"Okay, I'll admit. You're a genius," I admit, looking at myself in the mirror. My face reads a sexy, sneaky girl. Much like Cat Woman. The way the dark shades around my eyes are just right. The way I try not to smile. "And I look amazing."
"You should tell yourself that more often," Sam says, applying eyeliner and mascara for herself. "Everyone always needs a confidence boost from themselves once in a while."
Placing the headband with ears onto my crazy waves of hair, the whole look is complete. After admiring myself for five minutes, I decide it's time I help Sam. She always helps me after all.
"I'll do the face paint. Well a little heart at the corner of your eye and probably a heart on your lips. How about that?" Sam nods, closing her eyes as I draw the bright red miniature heart next to her right eye slowly and professionally. After the heart, I draw a heart on her lips with a dull stick of lipstick. Backing away before concluding my work, I examine her fair face and her small lips.
"Sam you look freaking gorgeous and that's probably an understatement!" I exclaim, grabbing the warmed-up curler from her hand and doing it myself.
"Wow, Kam. I totally had no idea you actually knew how to apply makeup," Sam smiles at herself in the mirror then at me. "Thanks."
"Of course, Sam," I reply, letting a strand of brown hair fall into a curl against her back. Heat rises from the curler as I continue my curling. "Do you want me to hairspray it afterwards?"
