A SMILE ON HER face, mackenzie slowly walked home from a hangout with her two best friends, bryn and emily. the golden sunlight hit her face as she focused on the sunset.

as she walked closer to her home, her smile slowly faded. she ran towards the curtain covered window and heard something she thought she would never hear; her sister, maddie, and her mother fighting.

the screaming only got louder and sobs filled mackenzies ears. she shakily forced her hand onto the door know and allowed it to rest there. with her breath wobbling she twisted the door know and pushed the door open. silence.

objects were thrown off of tables and glass was shattered on the floor. dirt spread across the white tiles and red roses scattered around the now broken vase.

her sister had mascara running down her cheeks and makeup that was rubbed of her face.

-"kenzie! no no no no!" maddie frantically shook her and ran to her sister. she cupped mackenzies face into her hands and sobbed.

-"kenzie, baby no." maddie engulfed a confused mackenzie into a hug and cried into her shoulder.

-"maddie. hey. whats wrong? are you okay?" mackenzie hugged her sister back.

-"maddie! let go of her. the decision is final." mackenzie flinched at her mothers harsh voice.

maddie released from the hug and placed her hands on mackenzies shoulders,

-"baby. im so so sorry. i tried to stop her i swear. i love you." she kissed mackenzies forehead and walked off.

-"wait maddie!" mackenzie grabbed maddies arm, "stop her from what?" maddie shook her head and bit her lip. she swallowed the lump in her throat and mouthed to mackenzie that she loves her. then she was gone.

-"mackenzie," her mother smirked, "you sweet innocent little girl." she slowly walked towards her frightened daughter.

mackenzies breathing grew faster by the second as she backed away from her mother.

-"i want you out of my house. now." her mother spoke.

-"mom?" her voice was no louder than a whisper. she knew her mother always hated her but there never was a reason.

mackenzies packed backpack was thrown at her and her mothers pointer finger shot towards the front door.

-"get out!" mackenzies legs began shaking and her knees felt weak. she stood as if her feet were glues to the ground.

-"mom? what, why?" her mother walked towards her and shoved her out the door.

-"you want to know why? because you are a worthless little shit!"

-"what did i do? why are you kicking me out?" she attempted to stay calm because she knows better than to yell at her own mother.

-"oh no. its what you didnt do." mackenzie furrowed her eyebrows. she was confused.

-"w-what?" her bottom lip started to tremble.

-"you are worthless! you see your sister? shes famous, shes a dancer, a model, has millions of followers! but because of you she is lacking in fame. she wants to be with you-"

-"im her sister! of course she wants to be with me!" mackenzie yelled. she was frustrated, mad, confused.

-"how dare you yell at your own mother." mackenzie stared at her mother.

-"how could you do this," mackenzie swallowed away the lump, "to your own daughter? how?"

-"shut up! get out of my sight. get out of this neighbourhood. i never want to see your face again!" and the door slammed close.

mackenzie pounded at the door and yelled to be let in.

-"youre insane! you are fucking insane." she stopped yelling and fell to her knees.

the door flung open and mackenzie immediately stood up. her mother glared at her. suddenly mackenzie felt a sting on her cheek. she was slapped, it wasnt anything new to her,

-"get away from my house. you dont belong here. and dont even try going to you friends' house. they hate you know." her mother evilly smiled.

mackenzie glared at her mother,

-"what did you say to them." she spoke through her gritted teeth. her mother chuckled evilly, 

-"never come near my house again. i will call the police." mackenzie stared at her mother with hatred.

-"i hate you." she picked up her bag once she heard the door shut once more. she sniffled and wiped her tears. she refused to cry, especially not for her cruel mothe.

she walked down the steps and walked away from her house. her mother would call the police and she knows it. her mother will make any excuse up and mackenzie would instantly be sentenced to jail. it happened to her father, it can happen to her; her mother will do anything for money and maddie is her little piggy bank.

mackenzie walked. away from he home, away from her now non existent friends, and away from her neighbourhood.

it took a bit but it finally hit her, shes homeless.
