Chapter 24: Injured!

     The team were at the hospital. Emily and JJ were both covered in blood. JJ was covered with her husband's while Emily was covered with the Unsub's. They were both in the restroom, washing up. "You okay?" Emily asked. "I haven't decided yet." JJ replied. "It's okay to not be okay." Emily told her and JJ couldn't help but chuckle. "That's coming from you?" JJ asked. "What's that supposed to mean?" Emily asked. "Em, you're the Queen of keeping things on the inside." JJ replied. "I-I don't know what you're talking about." Emily told her. "Yes, you do. I love you, Em. But ever since I've known you, you've kept everything on the inside. You never tell us if you're not okay, or won't admit it. You keep your feelings inside. It's more understandable now that we know more about your past. But it's the rest of us, Em. Because we trust you and we are your best friends. We just want you to trust us too." JJ explained. There was a moment of silence as Emily put her head down. "It's not about trust, JJ. I do trust you guys, with my life. But it's not that simple. When you've been through all that I have, it becomes hard. It's really hard to say how I feel.... When I never could in the past. I know I can talk to you, to all of you.... But it's more complicated than that because some voice in the back of my head keeps telling me that it's weak to show emotions. Or that nobody cares. Or both. Because that's what my mom told me all my life, and I can't just make it go away like that. Even if I want to." Emily explained. JJ sighed and gave her a hug. Penelope walked in as they pulled apart. "Everything alright?" Penelope asked. "Yeah." Emily replied. "I brought you some clean clothes." Penelope told them as she handed it to them. "Thanks." Emily commented. "How's Will?" JJ asked. "No word. He's still in surgery." Penelope replied and JJ sighed.
      The girls walked out of the restroom. "How are you feeling?" Derek asked. "I'll be better once I know how Will is doing." JJ replied. "Do you want to sit down?" Spencer asked and JJ shook her head. "No, I can't right now. I need to keep walking." JJ replied as she paced. "That won't help." Aaron told her. "I know, I just need to do something." JJ agreed. Emily looked over and saw two police officer's outside of Mason's hospital room. The doctor walked out and over to two more doctors. They talked for a moment and then the other two doctors walked away as Mason's doctor looked over some files. Emily walked over to him and crossed his arms. "How is he?" Emily asked. "It wasn't that bad. The bullet missed all of his major arteries." Dr. Kyle replied and Emily nodded. "When will ge go to jail?" Emily asked. "I have to keep him here at least twenty four hours to keep an eye on his progress. But he'll most likely leave tomorrow. Don't worry, the cops willl not leave him alone even for a second." Dr. Kyle replied and Emily nodded. "Good." Emily commented. The doctor walked away as David walked over to her. "Hey." David greeted. "Hey." Emily greeted. "How's the Unsub?" David asked. "He'll make, and will probably go to jail tomorrow." Emily replied and he nodded. "How's the baby?" David asked. "Good. She's currently kicking me and it hurts." Emily replied and he laughed. "She's a fighter. Just like her mother." David commented and Emily smiled. "Perhaps." Emily agreed. "So, it's confirmed then? You're having a girl?" David asked. "Nothing's been confirmed yet, I just have this feeling she's a girl. I don't know why." Emily replied. "Mother's intuition." David commented. "Maybe." Emily agreed.
       Mrs. Jearu walked into the hospital with all three kids. JJ looked up and saw them walking over. "Mom!" JJ exclaimed. Mrs. Jearu hugged her daughter and JJ wiped her tears. She knelt down to look at her children better. "How was your day with grandma?" JJ asked. "Good." Michael replied and JJ gave them a strained smiled. "What happened?" Henry asked and JJ frowned. "Dad got injured. The doctors are helping him now." JJ replied. "Well he be okay?" Henry asked. There was a moment of silence as she sighed. "We don't know yet." JJ replied. Henry and Michael hugged her and she hugged them back. "Was it my dad? Did he hurt Mr. LaMontagne?" Daphne asked and JJ sighed. "He did." JJ replied. "Did he get away?" Daphne asked. "No. He's here." JJ replied. "Here? As in the hospital?" Daphne asked. "Yeah. Emily caught him and now he's getting help too. But don't worry, he's going to jail for the rest of his life." JJ told her and Daphne nodded as JJ gave her a hug.
     Emily walked out of the restroom and Daphne ran up to her. "Hi!" Daphne greeted. "Hi." Emily greeted. "Mrs. Jearu told me that you're the one that stopped the bad man. That you're the reason he won't hurt me anymore." Daphne told her and JJ nodded. "I am." Emily agreed. "Did he hurt you?" Daphne asked. "He tried, but I got the upper hand." Emily replied with a small smile. "Thank you." Daphne commented. "For what, sweetie?" Emily asked. "For stopping him." Daphne replied and Emily smiled. "You're very welcome." Emily commented. Daphne hugged and Emily hugged back before she ran over to JJ.
     The doctor walked over to them and JJ stood up. "Doctor. How is he?" JJ asked. "Mr. LaMontagne is badly injured and we cannot seem to stop the bleeding." Dr. Hayes replied. JJ gasped as she stepped backwards and put her hand on her chest. Derek stood up and grabbed ahold of her. "Will he make it?" Derek asked. "As of right now, it's unsure. But we are trying everything we can to save his life." Dr. Hayes replied. The doctor walked away as everyone surrounded. "Are you okay?" Spencer asked and she shook her head. "No. I'm not." JJ replied. Mrs. Jearu returned from the cafeteria with the kids and JJ sighed.
    It was past midnight, and Will's fate is still undetermed. JJ decided to stay the hospital while Mrs. Jearu took the kids to her house. JJ insisted the team went home, but all promised to be back first thing in the morning. Emily was in her pajamas as she walked into her bedroom. Aaron was already in bed, but was sitting up as he drank his coffee. There was another cup of coffee on the table for her and she smiled. He always thinks of her. "You know I love you, right?" Emily asked. He looked up at her, concerned. "Of course." Aaron replied. Emily sighed as she sat on the edge of their bed. "It's just.... I find it hard talking about feelings. Its easier now with you, you make it easier. You make me feel like I can talk about my feelings and my past. You make me feel loved, and I never thought I'd feel that. Then you came along, and everything changed." Emily told him. He had no idea what she was talking about. "Em." Aaron commented. "You're amazing. You're kind and so very patient with me. I love you for who you are. All of it.... I'm sick of hiding a part of myself away from the team, from you. It's going to take more time for me to fully let down my guards. They're almost down, because of you. I'm tired of pushing the ones I love away. I wanna try. Try to let you in and to destroy the wall keeping me hidden away. It won't be easy, but I'm ready." Emily explained. Aaron got closer to her and put his hand ontop of her hand as he used his other hand to push some of her hair out of her face. "You won't have to do it alone." Aaron told her. She smiled as they kissed.
