Ch1.) Schooltime Dreaming

"Run, did you hear me!?" he said, shaking me. "I said to run, dammit!" Wow he is beautiful, I thought to myself. Ocean colored eyes, with lightning bolts of hazel running through them stared back at me, alarm etched into them. Why is he so worried, I thought for a second. I was suddenly distracted again, by those eyes, seeming to call to me like a blazing fire on a brisk winter day. Hmmm, how I would get lost for hours in those eyes!

"Meredith, please GO!" he yelled at me again in fear, looking around like there was someone there watching us. Suddenly I felt rough hands on my shoulders replacing the soft palms placed on my them but seconds before..."Meredith...Miss Meredith Calhoun," I heard a high-pitched falsetto calling.

Slowly, I lifted my head up only to look into the black beady pupils of my math teacher, Ms. Gitlin. "Miss Calhoun, this is the second time this week! One more and it is the principals office where you will find yourself!," she said as she walked off twitching her twig thin, bony hips to the front of the room. Groaning at being ripped away from the beautiful man that it haunted my dreams for the last two months, I leaned over to my best friend, Natalia Romnov. Natalia came from Russia to our little town of Chesterfield, Virginia in second grade, and I was assigned to show her around. To say the least, we hit it off and have been inseparable ever since! "Psssst, Nat....Psssst," I called. "Yes! What is it Mere?!," She responded. I giggled knowing how much she hated being distracted in class. "Guess what tomorrow issss?" I said in a sing-song voice. Groaning she answered "Meredith Ann Calhoun, I have been your best friend since second grade, if you really think I could forget your 18th birthday then I don't know how we are even best friends!" I smirked, sitting back into my seat, knowing good and well that she knew when my birthday was, but I just wanted to hear her say it. "Ok, ok Geeez! Don't get your granny panties in a twist! Just making sure you don't forget," I said under my breath. I just barely heard her snort and whisper back "As if, we all know you would egg my car for weeks if I did!"

10 minutes later I heard the loud bell tone announcing the end of the day. I rushed out, yelling behind me to Natalia "Nat, be there at-", "3 o'clock to set up, I know," she yelled back. Smiling from ear to ear I strolled through the parking lot to my 1997 beater. Driving as fast as my baby could manage I rushed home, just in time to see something odd at the edge of the woods behind my house. What looked like a huge dark black wolf was there... Staring. Straight. At. Me.
