I was sitting in the town library reading my book when I got a sort of sense that someone was watching me. I looked up but couldn't see anyone looking my way so I went back to my book. It was a brilliantly written, soppy tale about a girl who falls in love with her best friend but doesn't realise it until it's almost too late. I'd read it so many times before but I just love the way it's written and it gave me the courage to keep hoping for Mr Perfect. I had just got to the part when the main character is crying because the guy she thought she loved has just broken her heart and she's on the phone to her best friend and he's saying--

"Whatcha reading?"

I jumped as a low voice came from right beside me and I lifted my gaze to the most beautiful boy I'd ever seen.

"Ummmm......" What do I say?!

The mysterious boy grabbed the book from my hands and turned to the page I was just reading.

""Sarah, it'll all work out and you'll meet the right guy eventually you just have to give it time." Josh whispered down the phone, "I know it seems hard but just give it a while."

"But I love him Josh - how can I just pretend I don't?" Wow - you actually read this and enjoy it?!" And with that, the Mr Perfect spell was broken.

"Give that back!" I hissed and made a lurch for the book but he saw me reaching and held it above his head out of my reach.

"You can have it back if you'll go on a date with me." And it struck me that despite his perfect appearance he was just as arrogant and annoying as every other guy his age.

"You're an ass and I'd rather eat my own puke than go out with you. Now give me my book!" I stood up and grabbed for the book but he stood up too waving it above his head just out I my reach.

"Jump for it. Go on girl - jump!"

"I'm not a dog you idiot!" I growled, punching him in the stomach to try and get him to give me my book - to no avail.

"I'm well aware of that beautiful which is why I asked for a date." I glared at him but hey! what do I have to lose - I'll most likely never see this boy again anyway no matter how the date goes and I REALLY wanted that book back. So I sat back down in my chair and sighed.

"Fine you can have a date but I want my book now."

At this he smirked at me as he said, "Now see, that wasn't too hard, was it?"

It was so hard not to punch him in the mouth then.

He pulled a chewed up biro from his jeans pocket and stuck his hand out for my arm. I reluctantly stuck my arm out and he proceeded to write an untidy (and illegible) name followed by a mobile number.

"Call me within a week or I will hunt you down. And you don't want me to have to do that!"

"Whatever," I mumbled, "just leave me alone now.", and went back to my book.

Suddenly the library bell rang to announce closing time and I looked up from my book, amazed that an hour and a half had passed after I brushed off the annoying boy, and spotted a note stuck to the table in front of me. I squinted to read the illegible writing that matches that on my arm.

'You looked so beautiful reading that I just had to talk to you. I'm not usually such a jerk - honest. Please call,' and then there was another scribble of a name that matched the one above the number on my arm perfectly. I picked the note up, folded it, and tucked it away in my bag.

All I could think as I headed home that evening was, 'I wonder what his name is.'
