Chapter 23 (End of flashback btw)

"You... You told Mr. Hiragi?" Yu whispered, voice shaky. "You told them to KILL MY DAD!?"

"No!" Shinya responded as fast "I did not! I didn't said anything at first but I wanted to be part of the family so... Oh gods... Why did I?" Shinya started shaking "I made you and Guren orphans! I killed your parents without knowing! I..." he hugged his knees "I destroyed a family for my own selfish needs!" Shinya cried "I'm!" He looked around and looking for the nearest (and less dangerous) exists.

Yu noticed the teen's panic and decided to calm down a bit "But did you mean to?" Yu said though, it came out ruder than he intended "You said you kept quiet, what happened?" Yu was trying to act calm but he was still angry so even if he tried to sound gentle, it came out rude and dry, as if he was trying to start a fight.

"I was adopted to marry Mahiru. I was ok with it at first since marriage with her would mean free house, food, water, etc. Free Accommodations, anyways, so I did everything I could to make the family more proud of me, happy to have me." Shinya's voice was still shaking and he was fighting to stop his tears. Why was he such a cry baby now? Back in the days he was heartless just like them, not caring about anyone nor himself, never crying, never angry, just there.

What happened to that version of him? Why is he crying at an abandoned house that he and Yu found in their way to Walmart? Its so humiliating!

"What were you doing at the office when my dad was there?" Yu asked "it was close and nobody should have been there but my dad."

"Honestly, I don't know." Shinya was taking long breaths to calm down. "I was forbidden to get out the house though, maybe I just wanted to... idk... be somewhere else?" Shinya lied.

Yu could look and act dumb a lot of times but he knew when someone was probably lying. Which is another reason why he and Guren would fight a lot. Yu could've interrogate Shinya more and more but he decided to let that subject go before he exploded with anger and regret. "Guren likes you." Yu said after a long moment of silence "He's just too dumb and slow to know it."

Shinya kept quiet for a moment before answering "If he likes me then why is he going with Mahiru today?" Shinya sighed "Also, I don't know if I wanna go out with him, nothing wrong with him besides his shit personality and whole being, but more on what will my family say? They're going to hate me more than they already do! I have nowhere to go if they kick me out! No family, no money, no friends-"

"I don't understand all of that but you can stand at our house until you have enough money to rent an apartment and move." Yu suggested "You can sleep at my room or maybe the living room! But honestly I'm going to send you to the living room, I love my room too much to share it."

"But-" 'Why? I killed your parents! Why even have me?? I... I killed...' Shinya was about to ask until he saw Yu's face, the face of a 15 year old ready to forgive, a 15 year old who suffered the consequences of adult's acts, one who was ready to forgive. "Thanks..." Shinya looked down "But I don't promise that things might not be awkward between me and Guren. That idiot is gonna fuck my ex fiancé who happens to be my sister." Shinya spat (Maybe with jealousy or maybe disgust at the realization that he almost married his sister.)

"It's alright." Yu said in a calmer state now. "We can later kill that idiot and hide his body here." Yu said as he stood and stretched "I know! Mika invited me to his house to prank his stepdad, you're welcomed to join us!"

"Go to your boyfriend's house to prank a man that I don't know?" Shinya's voice was monotoned. "I was expecting a dinner or maybe a movie but pranking a stranger sounds WAYYYY better than eating with strangers!" Shinya gave Yu a genuine smile "Let's go, I haven't eaten and I doubt you had."
