Chapter 8: Conning

—————————

Angela took a deep breath as soon as she pulled up to her home. She really wanted to avoid her parents because she knew that it was going to be some bullshit as soon as she walked through the door.

Walking up the steps, she unlocked the door and her eyes fell on her mother, who was sitting in the living room.

"You saw me calling you, right?" Angela's mom said as she stood up from the couch.

Angela sighed. "Yes, I decided to rush home and talk to you face to face since my phone was going to die." She lied.

"Rushed home?" Her mother scoffed. "It's been nearly two hours since I called you Angela." Her mother started. "Do you not give a damn because I'm starting to think that's what is wrong with you." She finished.

Rolling her eyes, Angela folded her arms across her chest. "Mom, I was finishing a project with my friend from school. I had to rush doing that." She lied again.

Angela's mom chuckled to herself and shook her head. "The maid was cleaning your room today and informed me about a used pregnancy test in your bathroom." She said making Angela suck her teeth.

"Mom, it wasn't mine. It was my friend's from school. She wasn't comfortable taking it at her home because her parents are nosy." She continued to lie.

"Wait ..you made a friend?" Her mom asked in shock.

Angela nodded her head as she awkwardly looked at her mom. "So, can I go to my room now?" She asked.

She wanted to take a nap and then she had to get ready to go with Christian to attend his father's award show with him.

"Fine, but I don't think you should be hanging out with someone who isn't having safe sex, I don't want you around anyone who'll be a bad influence on you." Her mother said.

Angela sighed and quickly made her way upstairs.

Her phone vibrated and she saw it was Jania messaging her on Instagram.

@janiameshell -don't you mess with him? He has a whole girlfriend! He's a clown.

Angela touched the attachment and it went to some girl she has never seen before story.

In the video it showed them posing in the camera and she planted kisses on his face. Christian sat in front of the camera with an awkward face.

Angela's heart started to race. She was shocked. She thought they made it clear to only fuck with each other, but he had some secret shit going on.

She didn't want to deal with it. She hated drama.

@angelax3- he not my nigga, idc.

Was what she wrote back to Jania.

She honestly didn't care, but the fact that he thought he could mess with her then go back to his real life, had her fucked up. The last thing she ever wanted was to be a side chick to anyone.

Tossing her phone on the side of her, Angela closed her eyes and let sleep take over her.

Hearing her phone ring, Angela lazily sat up and reached for her phone.

She rolled her eyes when she saw Christian's number pop up. That was a problem of hers, she didn't care to save numbers at all.

Pressing the green circle, she put the phone on speaker.

"What?" She answered.

Christian sighed. "You know it's rude to answer the phone that way?" He joked.

Angela scoffed. "You know it's rude for you to be fucking me when you have a whole bitch." She snapped.

There was a pause on the phone. It was so quiet you would've thought he muted his phone.

Sighing, Christian began to speak. "I'm single." Was all he said.

Angela chuckled. "Still got a bitch." She said nonchalantly.

"Angela, look .." He paused. "That's my ..ex- but we ain't been together in a while. She just be posting me, but I don't post her." He finished.

"I don't share dick." She said.

Christian groaned. "I'm not even fuckin' her. I'm not even sexually attracted to her no more. You the only person I'm fuckin', I'm telling the truth." He said more in a begging tone.

Angela scoffed. "Okay, whatever. What time should I be ready later ?" She asked changing the subject. That was her problem. She couldn't stay mad and she never cared to hold grudges. Plus she was bored and already bought an outfit for the event.

"It starts at eight, and it's five o'clock now. You can start getting ready at six, it's a forty minute drive." He said.

"Okay, I'll be ready. I'll text you my address." She said.

"Fasho." Was all he said before Angela hung up.

Grabbing her charger cord, Angela plugged her phone up to charge and connected it to her Bluetooth.

She wanted to play music as she got ready. The first song that played from her playlist was Juice WRLD. She was literally obsessed with him and he also helped guide her out of depression before. He meant the world to her.

Fighting Demons by Juice WRLD  played through her speakers and she could relate to every word he rapped.

Money didn't make her happy at all. She always felt like something was missing from her life, but no matter how many times she tried to open herself up even just a little, she'd ghost people. Even when things were going great.

She felt better being alone.

After forty minutes went by, Angela sat in front of her vanity doing her makeup.

Her music cut off and her phone started to ring. She instantly rolled her eyes and stood up to see who was calling her, only to see it was Christian.

"Hello?" She answered.

"Send me your address, I'm gonna' be on my way in twenty minutes. It going to be some traffic on the way there, so we'll have to leave out sooner. I'm sorry." He said apologizing  for his inconvenience.

Angela sighed. She was almost done with her makeup anyway. She was going for a natural beat.

"It's cool, I'm gonna send it now." She said.

"Ight." Was all he said before hanging up.

Angela quickly sent her address and finished getting ready.

She started to feel anxious as the time neared for her to be around his people and knowing people would be wondering who she was to Christian.

"Shit." Angela cursed. "Would I be wrong to cancel right now?" She asked herself aloud.

Sighing, she finally finished her makeup and fixed her hair up that was already done. She slid into her outfit and grabbed her purse.

The only thing that could irritate her was the message in her DMs that she was going to notice soon.
