Joel made sure to rest up as he checked on Faye. She sleeps away in her room after being settled in from the fight.
The night was slowly draining away from the winter sky.
Joel kept her door open, finding that he wished to watch over her. Her lack of self care was what brought them to this moment. If Faye is to watch over me I'll do that for her. At least to keep her healthy for whatever comes at us next.Joel lays upon the couch, a clear view to Faye's bed as she lays still under her covers.
He looks to the ceiling as the light from his own room was leaking into the living room.
The moment of Faye's selflessness from that fight kept replaying in his mind. Her words that broke his ear drums couldn't have not been replayed as well. After the fight, Noel and Gale retreated to the apartment below. Gale didn't say another word to Joel. Noel had parted ways with Joel only warning him of the possible people to come to the apartments due to the beam that could be spotted from miles away. They were a target once again.
Faye wasn't suppose to be there, Joel knew, residing in his apartment. Where was she supposed to be? If it was Atlas to know of her whereabouts, since they are to be married, why hadn't he done anything?
The bashing on the door, caused Joel to sit straight up. As well as Faye, from the corner of his eye he caught.
"Commander Atlas Speaking! Open up!"
Joel cursed his thoughts for jinxing him. He came to Faye's room. They make eye contact.
"Sleep." Joel mouths. "No" She quietly mouths back, quietly sneaking under the covers while continuously making eye contact with him. Joel amusingly smiled briefly before closing the door for her, mentally taking note that he has to find a way to make her sleep.Joel inhales and exhales as if he was hyping himself up to speak with Atlas. His fiancé was in the bedroom before him and he has to play it off like that wasn't the case. If that didn't sound scandalous he didn't know what does.
He gulped before opening the door.
"Holy shit!" Atlas laughed obnoxiously upon seeing his face. "You look like shit."
"Hello to you too." Joel spoke but Atlas barged in, immediately causing his anxiety levels to heighten.
"So, where's my fiancé? Thought you might know. The Russian twink didn't know of where she had been. So, I thought, you, being my last hope, would know."
Atlas looked around the place almost surprised for how well it's been holding up. "If not-" Atlas flicked his tongue and pulled a gun from the back of his pants.
Joel raises his hands in a surrender.
"Look, I don't - know." Joel did his best to not mention or physically tip off that she's in the other room. Knowing her, she was listening to everything that was happening. The last thing Joel wants is for her to use her ability. It would only place her condition into a worst state until she rests.Atlas holds his gun before him, pointing it to his chest then to his head.
"She came to the counsel building but hasn't been seen since.""Your security isn't very good." Joel muttered but got caught up in the small click of the glock to his head. He back ups.
"What makes you say that?"Shit. Joel scrambles around his mind. Gale's remarks towards Atlas about who he is truly makes Joel stand up straighter.
"I walked onto another districts territory without being questioned." Joel lied, suddenly looking him in the eye.
Atlas hesitates, his hand slightly lowering the gun. "That's none of my concern."
"You asked." Joel shrugged.
