My biggest fear is being kidnapped- why? Great question. Have I ever been kidnapped before? Nope. So what sparked my fear? Honestly, probably Criminal Minds. They've got some messed up stuff on that show. Anyways, back in 5th grade I'm over at my cousin's house. I had just gotten my first phone, a samsung bright side. It was a touchscreen flip phone; best of both worlds if I do say so myself. We decided to entertain ourselves by walking down a few blocks to a park. Before we left, though, my cousin's bratty 3rd grade neighbor trotted over and insisted on coming with us. We couldn't say no, I mean maybe we could have but in elementary school I was taught to be inclusive. So we make our way over to the park and we're having a great time. They had just remodeled the park from an old wooden structure to a new plastic and metal one. As we were playing woodchips, like kids do, we saw a white van pass by. Obviously we thought nothing of it because it's a car and it's not like we hadn't seen a white van before. We continue playing this game until the truck passes by again. This is when the neighbor decides to chime in.

"You know- I heard a girl got kidnapped by a white van last week."

First of all, what 3rd grader would know about that? Secondly, seriously not the time. I brushed it off and continued playing until the truck passed by once more before stopping right in front of the park. Our intense game of woodchips cease as we all make eye contact, it's straight out of a movie. At this point, I was the one in charge, we had one 5th grader, a 4th grader, and a 3rd grader that should really still be in 2nd. We decided to run behind a building and hide- definitely not extremely obvious to the people in the truck. The waiting game began, 1, 5, 8 minutes pass by and the truck hasn't moved. I'm freaked out thinking that I'll never make it back from this park, until it dawns on me, use my high-tech phone to call my older cousin to come save us. I call him, tell him why we were scared, and he assures us that he'll come get us.

Minutes pass before I heard my name and my cousin's name being yelled from across the street. We peer out from our hiding spot and see my older cousin has come to save the day, equipped with a BB gun. Would a BB protect us from a real kidnapper? I still don't know the answer to that question, but I can totally say I'm still scared of white vans.
