It's been a couple days since I ran away and so far, we haven't seen any signs of my dad or the police. I didn't know why he was taking so long, but it did nothing to ease the nerves.

And, on top of all that, we still had the big race with Ronnie to worry about. I just hoped it wouldn't affect us to bad, because we had to pull out all the stops if we wanted even the slightest chance of beating him...

After passing the qualifiers, we patiently waited in our tent for the races to start.

We sat quietly for the most part, everyone seemingly stuck in their own heads.

"Good morning, gals... Rex." Ronnie said as he approached our tent.

We all looked up, Judy standing first. "Good morning, I hope you came prepared, because I don't plan on losing today."

Ronnie smiled lightly. "I wouldn't expect any less... But, I just wanted to stop by and wish you luck, it's gonna be a good race."

Judy nodded. "Good luck to you to."

They shook hands and Ronnie gave us a nod before heading off.

I walked up behind Judy, resting my hand on her shoulder. "How're you feeling?"

She glanced at me, a slight smirk playing at her lips. "Confident."

I smiled back. "Good, because nothing is standing in the way of you and victory."

She pressed a quick kiss to my lips. "Let's hope you're right, beautiful."

Then, the sound of the announcer calling for all the cars to meet at the starting line rang out over the PA system.

"I guess I better get up there." Judy said, walking over to her car.

I followed after her, stopping her before she could get in. "One more kiss for the road?"

She smiled, pressing a warm kiss to my lips. "How was that?"

I smiled back. "Perfect, as usual. Now go kick Ronnie's ass for good."

She nodded before getting into Meredith and starting her up.

Rex led me to the stands as Judy drove over to the big line of cars waiting behind the starting line.

Rex and I sat down just in time to watch the first race...

As the day wore on, Judy and Ronnie beat every car that crossed their paths, solidifying their place in the finals.

The sun was just starting to set as Judy and Ronnie lined up next to each other for the big finale.

I let out a nervous breath. "Here we go..."

Rex gave my shoulder a reassuring squeeze. "The race of a lifetime..."

We grew silent as the ambers lit up.

Then, the green.

Both cars shot off the line like rockets, Ronnie's car taking an immediate lead.

But, Judy's car started gaining on him!

As they reached the half way point, both cars were dead even.

I held my breath, watching in anticipation, seeing the bumper of Judy's car slowly inch out in front of Ronnie's...

They crossed the finish line to thunderous applause, the little light above Judy's time board flashing, signaling her victory.

Rex and I jumped up, cheering louder than anyone else there.

After all this time, after coming so close so many times before, Judy finally beat him, ending the rivalry once and for all.
