Today was like any other day. Haley woke up as soon as her alarm started to go off, at 6 am. Being a senior in high school, she was far more eager to get to school than most. She gets up take a quick shower, letting her hair dry on its own and fall in natural waves around her shoulders and down her back. She walks to her closet, slipping into a pair of skinny jeans and a loose fitting top. She puts on a bit of foundation and some lip gloss, the only make up she ever wore, before grabbing a muffin and heading out to meet with Anna Collins, her best friend. And like always, Anna was running late.
Haley sits down in the grass and pulls her knees to her chest, drumming her fingers against her leg as she waits for Anna, who finally decides to show her face, just as the bus was pulling up. Haley rolls her eyes and they climb onto the bus together, taking their seats at the front.
"Sorry," Anna says, grinning. "My hair refused to cooperate."
Haley simply looks at her, then shakes her head and laughs. Anna was always late. And it was either because of her hair, or her make up. In Haley's eyes, Anna is gorgeous. She felt even more plain than usual being next to her.
The bus ride, like always, went smoothly. Quiet and peaceful, which was very strange for a high school bus. But the girls weren't going to complain about it. They finally arrive at the school, and they are the first ones off. They link arms and start to walk towards the school. Haley can feel eyes on her, but she refuses to turn and look. Anna feels it, too. The only difference...she actually looked. Haley had no idea who Anna was looking at it, but she continued to just stare at him. It was a little frustrating when she tried to get her attention, but she seemed more interested in whoever she was staring at. It was odd. She had never been interested in anyone before. Haley rolls her eyes and finally just gives up, walking into the school. She would meet up with her after class and figure out what on earth was going on with her.
It felt odd, walking into school without Anna by her side. But if she had finally found a guy that caught her attention, then she is happy for her. Haley moves to her locker, manuevering around all the high school cliques cluttering the halls. It really was a hassle that she never understood. She quickly gets out the things needed for her math class and heads on her way. It was best to get there now, while everyone wasn't racing for their classrooms at the same time. That was her strategy to avoid being completely trampeled.
