Anna finally reaches the boy, his icy blue eyes staring into hers. It was a little unnerving. She wasn't really attracted to him, but she felt this urge to walk to him, like something pulling her to him. She finally snaps out of him when he smiles at her and mutters a soft hello.

"Uhm.. Hi." Anna mumbles in response. She wasn't sure she liked this situation.

He gestures for her to sit down on the little bench, and he sits beside her, scratching at the back of his neck lightly. He seemed to be as uncomfortable as she was, which made it a little easier for her. But without warning, that was gone. And he was all business.

"My name is Alexander. Please, call me Alex."

Anna gives a little smile, nodding. "Anna. Nice to meet you."

"Have you heard about the attacks going on around here, Anna?" His eyes seemed to grow darker for a moment, but almost immediately, they were back to there ice blue color, and Anna was convinced she had imagined it.

"The attacks.. Yea. The police are saying it's some kind of wild animal. There's only been two, and those were a while back. I think they kinda just gave up on it."

Alex nods, his lips pursing as he starts to think. It didn't make sense to him, but he wasn't too worried about it just yet. As long as everything was under control, things would be fine.

"Your friend. What's her name?"

"Oh, Haley. She's my best friend."

"She's very pretty. But she isn't like most. She isn't conceited," Alex says, his eyebrows creased.

"Yea, I know," Anna replies. "It's because she doesn't think she is pretty. And if you try to tell her that she is, she glares at you and tells you lying is a sin."

Alex chuckles, then looks up as the bell rings, signaling it's time for class to start.

"Well, I better get going. It was nice to meet you, Alex."

Anna gives him a wave, then jumps to her feet and heads inside, quickly getting her books from her locker and going to her English class.

As soon as the bell rings signaling the end of school, Haley heads out to her locker where Anna is waiting for her.

"Anna! What the hell! Care to tell me what's going on?"

"Chill out, Hay," Anna says, rolling her eyes and grinning. "I just met the new kid. He was just curious about those attacks from a few weeks ago. Oh, and by the way, he is totally into you."

Anna says this last part with a wink before waving and running off for swim team. Haley lets out a groan, grabbing the things she needs for her homework assignments before heading out to the buses. She seriously could not wait for her dad to come down with the car he had promised her. Of course, there was no telling when that would be. She sighs as she climbs onto the bus, frowning as she gets the feeling that she was being watched. She looks out the windo of her seat, but nobody was there. She pulls out her iPod and shuffles all her songs, smiling as I Remember You by Blackmore's Night plays. It was one her favorites.

Before she knew it, she was home. She practically runs off the bus, putting her iPod away and pulling her cell out instead, turning the volume back up. She goes straight to her room. Her mom wasn't home, and her little brother was still at soccer practice, so she had the house to herself. She pulls out her books and starts on her homework, the rest of her day quickly disappearing.
