I take in a deep sigh, looking around the lobby of the hospital we're currently placed in. The cheap fabric of the chair i'm sitting on scratches my skin uncomfortably..
"What are we gonna do now?" Lily inquires, blue eyes sad.
"Well, the Doctor's are gonna fix us up. Then.. I don't know." I say it quietly, knowing the cops sitting near us probably would just love to eavesdrop.
I'm still in shock. I'm not crying, nor is Lily. Not anymore. After an hour, we calmed down. Then they sent an ambulance to pick us up. (Which I felt was unnecessary)
"Hannah and Lily?" A young voice calls, skimming the room. The cops stand up, gesturing to us. We slowly get out of our seats, and walk over to where the nurse is pointing down a long, clean hallway.
As I walk, a tingly feeling comes over my spine. I've always been nervous when it comes to going to the Doctor.
I'd already texted most of my friends that I couldn't hang out today, not giving any reasons.
Who knows if i'll ever see them again.
I guess you could say I was popular at school, but that doesn't matter now.
The nurse sets us inside a room with two beds, and curtains. There are machines humming, and many medical instruments laying around in neat groups.
Minutes later, in marches a tall and muscular man. His dark hair is slicked back, and his eyes are a gray color. His normal white coat is whipping all around him as he walks over to me, glasses sliding down his large nose.
"Hello, girls." The Doctor greets warmly, looking at Lily and I.
We mumble replies.
"So may I ask your ages?" He questions.
"ten," Lily tells him shyly.
"I'm fifteen. Almost sixteen." I say proudly. My face falls as I remember that under these circumstances, I may not have the dream sweet-sixteen i've always wanted.
"Well, you ready to get checked?"
We nod.
He scoots towards Lily first, examining her arms and cuts. He presses towards her lower stomach, wondering if anything was hit there. He goes back up to her cut, and scurries towards a cabinet. He pulls out a yellow tube, squeezing some of the mixture onto his finger. He goes back over to her, sitting back down on his spinny chair. He swipes some across the cut, and Lily winces a little bit.
"When you first put it on, it'll sting for a minute. But it'll help that cut heal a lot faster." He informs her, sticking some band-aids on smaller cuts.
He turns to me, and spins over on his chair. His eyebrows raise as he stares at the more serious cuts. One on my left arm, other on my right leg. He tells me he'll need to stitch both, but everything else will be band-aids and all that. My face goes pale.
"Stitches are.. Scary." Lily pipes up.
"Be quiet, Lil," I say tightly, watching her shrug her shoulders.
"I'm sorry. But c'mon, lets get started." Are the Doctor's words as he leaves the room for a minute.
I did so not sign up for this.
