There were only three days until Christmas and I currently rushing to get all of my shopping done. With everything going on I managed to completely forget about the upcoming holiday. These last couple months have flown by. I threw some candy canes into my cart and continued down the aisle. I had already gotten my gifts for Mom and Dad, but I still needed to find gifts for my friends. So far I had gotten some new calligraphy pens for Sydney, and some bath bombs and candles for Makayla. A couple months ago I had gotten Weasley sweaters for the twins to satisfy their ever growing obsession with Harry Potter. Johnson is also obsessed with The Office, so I got him a teapot filled with our inside jokes like Jim got Pam. Unfortunately I still needed to buy for Caden, Zach, Erin, Framen, Layla, and Oscar. I was beyond struggling.
After asking Framen for advice on what to get Layla and Oscar, I had a couple ideas in mind. I got Layla a makeup bag that is filled with cheap pallets and lipstick. Because what little girl her age doesn't like playing with make up? And for Oscar I got him a book about dinosaurs and a book about bugs. According to Framen those are his two latest obsessions, and he loves to read.
I decided to just get Caden, Zach, and Erin little stockings filled with candy and an ornament.
All that left was Framen. Oddly enough, he was the hardest to shop for. When I asked him what he want, he told me not to get him anything, which is, by far, the most annoying answer of all time.
I gave a sigh as I handed the cashier my credit card. I would just go shopping for him tomorrow. I grabbed my bags and headed out to my card. Just one more stop for tonight.
Every year, our family unwraps a new pair of Christmas pajamas on Christmas Eve to wear that night. This year, I was given the responsibility of picking out the pajamas. I drove quickly to the mall and rushed to find a parking space in the busy parking lot. It seems I wasn't the only one with last minute Christmas shopping to do.
I hopped out of the car and shivered in the cold. The snow fell all around, painting little white dots in my red coat. I smiled I love this time of year. I ran into the shop and set off to find out Christmas pajamas.
After about half an hour of contemplation, I settled on red and green onesies. I grabbed two green ones for my parents and a red one for me. After a seconds through, I grabbed another red one and threw it in the cart. After paying, I rushed home to wrap the presents to give tomorrow at school. Luckily it was only a half day and then we were going on break.
I wrapped the presents carefully and stuck a little tag on the corner of the package with the name of who the present was for. I put the presents for my parents under the tree and the rest I put by my bag.
I was just about to settle into my welcoming bed with I heard taps at my window. I fought a smile as I walked to my window and opened the blinds. Staring back at me was the, one and only, Framen Krantz. I opened the window and sat on the windowsill, letting my feet dangle out the window.
"Hello, Riley." He said with a perfect smile.
"Hi."
"You've been gone all night. Christmas shopping?" He asked. I nodded. "What'd you get me?" He said with a mischievous smirk. I have absolutely no idea.
"You'll find out soon enough." I said.
He chuckled. "Mom was wondering if you guys would like to join us on Christmas Eve? We usually just play tons of games and eat junk food."
"That'd be nice. I can ask my parents."
His smile grew. "Cool." He said, nonchalantly.
We sat in silence, and my mind was drawn back to the other night. We both decided to brush it off and pretend it didn't happen, but there was still an awkward tension hovering around us. I just decided to pretend that wasn't there too.
