Sepetember 18, 3:30pm
"This wraps up today's lesson. Don't forget to study for the chapter exam next week Monday!" Ms. Moon sighed in relief as students began to pack away their notebooks and other personal belongings for the day. Keonhee stood up from his desk and shuffled out the door along with the rest of his classmates.
The hallway was bustling with students of all grade levels as Keonhee made his way to his locker to pick up a few of his textbooks. Afterward, he took the stairs down to the first floor. As he was about to walk out the front entrance of the school, he hears a voice calling for him, followed by a set of footsteps.
"Keonhee hyung, wait up!!"
Keonhee instantly recognizes this voice and turns around to see the shorter boy lightly jogging towards him.
"Hey Hwanwoong," Keonhee answered, greeting the latter with a genuine smile.
Hwanwoong grinned back at him eagerly, "You got my text message right? Do you want to have a study session with me on Sunday?"
"Yeah sure, I'd be down for that. At the same coffee house, right?" inquired Keonhee.
"Yup! I'll text you more of the details later tonight," replied Hwanwoong, still a bit out of breath for speeding towards his best friend down the hallway. He let out a deep, dramatic sigh as he slumps forward onto Keonhee, resting his head against his shoulder.
"Ughhh, I hate being a year younger than everyone else~" he whined, using his free hand to latch onto the taller's other shoulder for support. Keonhee chuckled, rubbing the boy's back in an attempt to comfort him.
All of Hwanwoong's friends are either a grade above him or are attending a different school, leaving him sailing in a sea full of 2nd-year students he has little to no connections with. This is one of the rare moments in which he was able to chat with Keonhee in person during school hours. He was lonely, oh, so lonely. But Hwanwoong would always hide such feelings with his bright smile and playful personality.
"Awwww how cute! You guys should just suck each other's dicks off next off already~"
Laughter quickly followed the crude comment as Keonhee shot his head up, his eyes widening at the sound of the familiar voice. Hwanwoong stood back up and looked around the hallway in confusion. It took just seconds for both pairs of eyes to land on the culprit. Keonhee immediate furrowed his eyebrows at the sight of the young man before him.
Kim Youngjo.
Otherwise known as the school's biggest, yet, most popular menace. Especially known to Keonhee as his one-and-only enemy since childhood. He despises him. He doesn't know why Youngjo began picking on him in the first place, but he always assumed it's because he's one of the smartest students in his grade—top of the class in fact.
I hate you so much, you piece of shit. What do you even have against me?? You've done nothing but torment me and make my life miserable. God I wish I could just delete you out of my life so I don't have to see your damn face everyd-'
"Well if you hate him that much then stop staring directly at him, headass," Geonhak spat.
Keonhee blinked out of his state of thought to see Youngjo and his crew smirking down at him. It wasn't until then that he realized that he was thinking out loud. His face turned a bright shade of red; he wanted to die out of embarrassment. He held his head down in an attempt to hide his now flustered self."Not gonna talk back? That's what I expect from a sissy like you," Youngjo sneered.
Before Keonhee could say anything back to him, however, Youngjo pushed him out of the way as he and his friends proceeded towards the exit.
"Later, princess~"
As soon as the double doors closed behind them, Hwanwoong was the first to break the now awkward silence, "Geez, what the hell is his problem? I can't believe Geonhak is friends with that asshole."
Keonhee let out a deep sigh, "I honestly don't know, Woong. It's been like this since elementary school. You could say we go way back, I guess," he chuckled, trying to convince him that he was okay, but it wasn't enough to wipe the worried expression off the younger's face.
"Listen, I should probably get going. Don't worry too much about me. I promise to text you later tonight, okay?" he reassured, to which Hwanwoong hummed in agreement.
"I'll see you tomorrow then, hyung," he replies as the two waved each other goodbye and parted their separate ways.
Keonhee went out of the front doors and pulled out his cellphone to text Seoho, asking him where he was. He was able to point him out on his own, however—flirting away with a couple of his female classmates. He sulked towards the trio and likely tugged on his sleeve, signaling him that he wanted to go him. Afraid that his younger brother was going to drive off without him, Seoho quickly wrapped up his conversation and followed close behind Keonhee to the school's parking lot.
