A mortal month later, the castle had a new resident.

Sarah became full Fae at a frankly ridiculous rate, the Labyrinth embracing her with as much fervor as a sentient magical maze could.

Jareth had given her an entire wing, crafting it from the ambient magic in the air.

Six mortal months passed and Sarah was living comfortably part-time in the Labyrinth, easily passing between the underground and her college dorm, usually taking advantage of the time difference to catch up on sleep and homework.

"Whatcha working on?" Prince asked, looking over Sarah's shoulder.

"My final project," Sarah said, typing away on her laptop.

"Is that the story about Father?"

"Which one?"

"The one." Prince clarified.

A ripple of magic poured into the Labyrinth, announcing the arrival of a mortal.

"Well, duty calls," Prince said.

"I'll help." Sarah offered, closing the laptop. "I need a break or my eyes will burn out."

"Don't let father hear that. He'll bog the laptop."

The laughed and headed for the throne room, seeing a three-year-old girl with pigtails.

"Hello, little one," Sarah said.

The girl turned, definitely scared at the goblins that had hidden themselves away upon her arrival. She took in Sarah's outfit, a silver and light blue gown with open sleeves and drawstrings. "Are you a princess?"

"I am," Sarah confirmed. "I have a crown and everything." Behind her back, she summoned a crystal and shattered it into a simple circlet, pulling it out to show the girl. "I'm Sarah. What's your name?"

"Abby." She said, eyes on the crown.
"It's nice to meet you, Abby. Would you like to wear this for a bit? We can be princesses together."

Abby nodded and they started to play, sitting on Sarah's throne, a more simpler affair than the love seat Jareth had since she only used it when they had non wished away guests.

Jareth appeared in the throne room, smiled gently at the girl, and went to his son's office, where he was sorting out adoption requests.

"Hello, Father. I take it the wisher is not a runner."

"Unfortunately."

"Aha!" Prince said triumphantly. "Found it."

"Elf Kingdom?" Jareth asked. "I didn't know you finished negotiations."

"I let you know that the talks had concluded a mortal month ago," Prince said, looking unamused. "Only ten changelings a mortal year and all applicants have to be sent to the elven council and approved before I even see the file. It was only one changeling a mortal year but I managed to get them to up the limit." He tapped a foot tall pile of applicant papers. "As you can see we have many eager applicants so I need to choose carefully."

"Well done," Jareth said, looking through a few.

"It was a nightmare. Almost as bad as your mildly-annoyed-but-not-enough-to-bog-you ones."

Jareth laughed. "Well as an apology for putting you through that how about I sort these. Sarah has the child well in hand. It's only 13 hours and I've been doing this for millennia. Don't you have a concert later anyways? The one Sarah wanted to see?"

"It can wait."

Jareth narrowed his eyes. "Elwynn, take Sarah and go enjoy your concert."

Prince glared but bowed. "Yes, sire."
