Iris's POV:

I sighed as I faced Herobrine, who most likely had another target for me. Another target for me to kill. Another target for me to regret my choice.

"Yes, my lord?" I asked. He turned and bore his pure white gaze into me. After so long, it still makes my skin crawl and filling me with an urge to just bolt and make a run for it.

"You have another target," he stated.

"Frostbourne?" I prompted. He nodded.

"He goes by the name of the Dragon Tamer. He will be a pain to deal with head on. If you manage to kill him, you've proven your loyalty and I will reveal the fate of one of your friends," he said.

My breath hitched. My friends? There were a few who survived his invasion. He's going to tell me what happened to one of them? If he did, maybe I can take a detour and visit them a bit. I need to finish this one, more so than any other target before.

"Consider him dead, my lord," I said before leaving, repeating the reward of the kill under my breath as I prepared for exit.

Rain's POV:

I sighed when I saw Blue leaping towards me after I finished my training. Despite his cheerful demeanor, he was a reminder of everything I lost. My home, my friends...... Now the poor wolf is waiting for someone who would never come back. I didn't have the heart to tell him that.

"Come on, Blue. Let's get back," I said to the blue collared wolf happily digging in the snow. He stuck out his tongue and bound towards me before slowing in speed and pace to not get ahead of me.

It was at times like these I really miss my friends.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw something vaguely black quick zip past my vision. I tensed and my hand rested on the hilt of my sword. Something hard hit me on the back of my head and I fell over, black dots dancing across my vision. I stood up groggily to someone plunging a knife down. Instinct took over and I rolled to the side, barely avoiding the blade.

A figure grabbed me in its hands and pushed me against the wall, choking me. I struggled but to no avail. The figure's eyes hardened before widening and dropping me in shock. I took the chance to take several gulps of air before getting the chance to study the wide eyed assassin.

The assassin was a girl around my age, which is 19 years old. She had chocolate brown hair that hung around her shoulder-blades. She wore a dark grey suit with gloves the same shade of grey. Her black boots made no sound as she stumbled backwards. She wore a light grey half mask. The strangest thing about her were her eyes. One was a pretty shade of dark blue while the other one behind the half mask was bright red with a background o black. She seemed kind of familiar.

"No no no no no no no," She whispered to nobody in particular, "No no no no no. I can't do it. I can't. I can't......"

As soon as she spoke, I knew exactly why she seemed kind of familiar. I recognized her voice.

"Iris?!" I said, shock lacing through every word, "You're alive?!"

"I'm sorry! I'm really sorry!" She cried out.

"What are you doing?! Don't you recognize me? Why are you doing this?" I demanded as the tip of her knife neared me. Her whole arm was shaking.

"I have no choice! I'm sorry! I have no choice......" She whimpered.

"You always have a choice!" I said.

"I'm really sorry, Rain!" She cried out.

Thud.

Her knife dropped to the floor as barking filled the room and Blue jumped into sight, he whined for Iris to pick him up. She didn't move a muscle.

"Oh no," She said, her eyes glistening as tears started to build.

"I can't do it," She said, her voice barely audible now, "I can't kill you. I can't do it."

"He'll kill Blue if I don't kill you," Iris said, voice louder now, "I can't......"

"Who's he?" I asked. A pained look crossed her face.

"Herobrine," She said, "He forced me to work for him in exchange for your lives. If I failed...... I don't want to think about it." Her bit her lip.

"I...... Keep your guard up. I'll have to return to Herobrine one way or another," She said, words trembling, "Just don't die. None of you are allowed to die." She knelt and hugged Blue, giving him a pat on the head before standing up.

"Oh and also," She added, "Herobrine kept hinting something big was coming. I guess he didn't trust me enough to let me know what exactly is he planning, but all I know is that something big is coming. You'd do well to prepare for that." With that she disappeared, like an Enderman, except leaving no particles.

Iris's POV:

I reappeared on the edge of Frostbourne territory, at least, there's not much snow around here. My heart was pounding. How am I supposed to face Herobrine now? I need to protect them, I can't handle any more losses. It would be too much for me to handle. I hurried back to Herobrine's base from there

"My lord," I knelt and sighed.

"You did not complete your task," Herobrine said.

"No, I did not," I looked up, "You told me to kill one of my friends. You will probably cheat me and tell me about him. I can't do it."

"You're weak," He hissed, turning around and giving me a good view of his glowing, white eyes.

"Fortunately for you, I have better use for you alive than dead," He said, "Follow me."

I tensed up as I followed Herobrine. I am immensely lucky he didn't decide to kill me. He knew I know who the Dragon Tamer was. He knew I have looser ties to him than ever before.

"A nether portal?" I wondered out loud. Herobrine turned around and smirked.

"Oh you'll like what you see in there."
