warnings, this topic my upset some people. please be wary and don't continue reading if you are easily stirred up by the loss of a loved one
-you drag yourself through the front door, the pain still weighing down on you
-you set your bag on the table and walk upstairs, your grab the blanket from your chair and wrap yourself up
-you try to bottle up the tears, and compose yourself
-needless to say, it didn't work
-you became a waterworks show, you screamed into your pillow and felt your tears drip down from your eyes, onto your cheeks and dampen the pillow case
-after what felt like hours went by you walked yourself into the bathroom, and nothing felt right
-you felt lost, in your own house, you felt empty
-you staggered to the mirror, placed your hands on the counter and leaned forward, trying to examine your face
-your eyes were red and swollen and your cheeks looked dusted-your face looked hollow
-you turned the shower on, and turned it to as hot as you could, without burning your skin off
-you hoped in, and let the hot water envelop you, the steam rose to your face and you could feel your body heat up
-but the warmth you felt like you were lacking felt replaced, only briefly
-you shampooed and conditioned your hair, washed your body and stood in the shower for a good hour
-and you sat down, the hot water washed and dropped down your back and you held your knees to your chest and buried your head in your arms
-after you got out of the shower and changed into your pajamas you went down stairs
-you heated up some left over pasta from dinner two nights ago
-you ate your dinner silently, wish just the occasional noise of the dryer going off-you had to collect your thoughts and ponder everything that has happened in the last couple of days
-after you finished you leave the plate in the sink, stacked on top of the countless other dirty dishes piled up
-you pull yourself up and walk to harper's house like you do every night
-you knock slowly, and you can't remember why
-your eyes feel heavy and swollen, almost like you can't see through them
-the door open slowly, you look up and are met with a surprise
-a boy, blonde hair and big eyes stands in the door way
-your eyes open, though it's probably unnoticeable since they're so red and puffy
-"shoot! i-i'm so sorry. my friend used to live her and i'd always come over. and she's recently died but i'd always come over or she'd always come over and i..km rambling now" you say, mentally slapping yourself across the face-"hey hey, it's totally fine" he tries to reassure you
-he stays silent for a while before opening the door further and stepping back, "would-would you like to come in? it seems you have a lot on your mind"
-you look up at him and nod and cautiously enter
-you walk yourself to the small gray couch that's set up in front of the tv
-the same tv that harper and you would watch movies on end with popcorn
-"so uh-whose your friend?" the boy asks
-"well, my name is y/n..my friend is harper"
-"ah sure, sorry. i'm mark..what happened to your friend?" he asks
-you bite your lower lip, hesitant to spill all the things about your friend so a stranger-"well...she's was really beautiful. so she'd go partying often..she wasn't a heavy drinker but the men she met tried so hard to drug her or even get her a little tipsy to do..you can probably imagine what their intentions were" you take a deep breath
-"here, have some water" mark says, sliding a water cup over to you
-"thanks" you say, picking up the glass setting it down and continuing
-"about a week ago she went to a club with some friends and i..a man there bought her so many drinks and she was too nice to decline any of them. she drank them all, despite the high alcohol levels. afterward she disappeared, and when i left so go look for her she was no where to be seen. i drove all around town looking for her"
-you felt your lips quiver at the thoughts racing through your head again-"when i gave up i got a call from my friend that she had gotton into a car accident with a strange man that was under the influence..she died instantly. i didn't get to say anything to her. and because of that i feel responsible that i didn't stop it.."
-after you finished talking you didn't dare to look mark in the eyes, you didn't need his pity
-"that's in no way your fault.." was all he said
-"i-i guess"
-"you did all you could to find her..she should've been a more responsible adult..."
-after hours flew by, talking to mark about everything, you got to know him well, very well
-when your eye lid felt heavy you decided it was time to go
-"thanks for everything mark, i really do appreciate everything. thanks for talking to me"
-"it's no problem y/n, you can come over anytime you need to talk about something" he said with a faint smile
