" Shoto, are you okay? "

She was carefully painting her nails a pale yellow while he watched. It was a chilly saturday evening. Aforementioned cold had also invaded the indoors. The hushed, low breathing of the air conditioner mixed with the rythmic sounds of rain colliding with the ground became relaxing. It wasn't stormy or anything, the weather was a pleasant drizzle. Her bedroom was quiet apart from the ambiance. Hashimoto looked at him questioningly and paused for a moment. She wanted to make sure everything was okay. Sure, they were naturally silent and calm like this; Todoroki just seemed off today. The two-toned boy sat right next to her on her bed. Their legs and arms were touching, but for them it wasn't a big deal. Similar to the rich, soft sheets they lounged on the two found eachother's company comfortable. Contrary to this, Shoto was staring blankly out her foggy arched window. It took a few moments before he properly responded.

" Oh? I... it's nothing. "

He trailed off, initially making eye contact with her when he begun the sentence. Now he was looking down again. Kaiyo persisted. If it were any other friend of his, that friend would have already realized that Endeavour was the problem. Although the two were very close childhood friends Kaiyo could never catch a hint. Even if the dilemma was as clear as day, Hashimoto was not exactly the brightest of the bunch, although she made up for it in raw skill and (more importantly) kindness.

" You look upset. "

Todoroki hummed vaguely in response. Instead of talking, he opted to lay on her shoulder for comfort. The flower girl screwed the lid back onto the bottle then put her nail polish and little brush down. Deciding she would occupy herself with it some other time, she put her full attention on her friend. Shoto was more important to her. He gave her a lot of his time, and she would be happy to give hers in return. Kaiyo smoothly interlaced her fingers with his. She made sure not to get any of the polish on him.

He protested, albeit weakly.
" I don't want to worry you. "

" You know all too well that I can't help it. "

Kaiyo laid her legs ontop of his, not fully understanding what the gesture meant. The action reminded Todoroki of a little paper doll for some reason he couldn't place. Using her free hand, she grew a small white Gardenia and tucked it behind his ear. Shoto looked a little surprised. This was obviously crossing the 'just friends' line, but for someone as socially clueless as Kaiyo they could kiss on the lips and she'd call it a best friend thing. It was important for Todoroki to know that while being with her. Especially since, well, he was her best friend. She rested her head on his chest cozily. Luckily, this wasn't first time she did this; he used to be a flustered mess.

" I've told you this before. But I think you're pretty cool. You shouldn't worry too much, I'll worry for you. "

Fuck, right in the heart.
Who knew he would be such a sucker for cheesy compliments?
He wasn't even sure if the pun was intended. Maybe it was the way she looked up at him with that soft smile on her face. He squeezed her hand gently. His other hand began to trace circles around the flowers growing on her body. Mainly the most accessible ones. The biggest rose on her right eye. Two smaller ones in her hair. One on to the left of her collarbone that was frequently hidden by her clothes. Todoroki knew for a fact there was one on her left hip as well, but if he slipped under her shirt even for a second he felt like he was defiling an angel. He kissed her on the forehead, and that was all the thanks she needed.

They probably continued like that for a while before they fell asleep. Drowsiness and the snug, safe feeling of being close to eachother weighing down on their eyelids until they flickered shut. The moment felt like warm pillows and pastel blue cotton. It was nice that such a cold color could associate with something so sunny. He thought that surely it was rainy and bleak outside, but in here it was pleasant and toasty. Shoto decided he'd explain to his siblings tomorrow, for now he just wanted to have this for as long as he could. This wasn't the first or the last scenario of its kind,
but he liked to cherish every little moment with her anyway.
