We got to the venue just in time for graduation. I wore my silk black dress that extended just below my knee paired with black high heels my mom had packed me. You wore a tuxedo with a blue tie that brought out your eyes, paired with dress shoes. We got out of the car in a hurry and a security guard pointed to the back door, where all the students waited, just as said during rehearsal. They were all formed in their little cliques ranging from the nerds to the cool kids. I wasn't in any of them, you weren't either. We had own clique that consisted of both of us, and that was perfect. "Hey," Chelsea Cassidy walked up to us, her red hair tied back in a bun. Her graduation dress was pink, and extended to her ankle, the top was filled with sequins and the skirt part was ruffly. I couldn't tell if she was wearing shoes or not, nor did I care if she was. "You guys are a really cute couple, I wish you guys the best." She said with a smile. Surprisingly, that was the nicest thing I've heard her say. I replied with a smile as well. "Thank you, and same goes to you." Next, Jasmine came up with Jonathan holding her hand. She wore a blue silk dress that was strapless. Jonathan wore a tuxedo with a black tie. "Hi," Jasmine said. I smiled. She continued, "Listen, I just wanted to say that I'm so sorry about my affair with Jonathan. I shouldn't have lied to you like that. It's not okay, but look at the turnout." She pointed at her and Jonathan then at you and I. Jonathan continued, "Double date sometime?" It took me a few seconds to think of an answer, I then looked at you and you just shrugged. "Sure!" The 12th grade administrator got our attention by whistling and I squeezed your hand, scared of what's to come. This was the end of high school. There was no more seeing you every day, not even every week. Which was why I wrote you that letter that I would give you soon. We walked into the venue which was way bigger than it seemed. There were about 1,000 seats filled with parents and siblings of our classmates. The valedictorian, Esther Cohen recited her speech while others mumbled in the crowd. Afterwards, the principal recited his speech and one after another we were called to the podium to receive our diplomas. First I was called, then you since our last names weren't the same letter and I came before you. As soon as you got off the stage, I gave the letter to you, and mouthed, Read it later. You nodded and took your place at the end of the line. For those who are wondering what the letter read, this is what it said:
"Dear my loverboy,
Whenever I look into your eyes, I feel like I am swimming in a vast sea of opportunities. A sea that is filled with joy and positivity and all things beautiful. Over the years, that vast sea of opportunities cured me instantaneously along with your smile. Your kind and gentle personality made me a better person than I would've been if I had been with someone else, and I just wanted to tell you how thankful I am for you. And your ability to make others laugh, and smile throughout the day without even trying. You're like an altruistic machine. You somehow manage to be there for me, and listen to all of my problems that I've repeated maybe a few hundred times and you somehow manage to stick with me. Because we're like magnetic forces, we always find our way back to each other. We just can't separate. And I love that about us. However there will be a day when we won't be able to see each other, and those days are college, and our future lives. Maybe we will become old and our magnetism will decrease and we will have more things to focus on like taxes and mortgages and jobs, but for now, let's make a promise. Let's promise to keep that magnetism alive between us, for as long as we can. I love you Tyler Walker,
Abby Geller."
I looked over at you, you were reading the letter. A tear rolled down your cheek, and you crumpled that letter, threw it on the floor and speedwalked in my direction. You grabbed my face then kissed me. After you let go, I asked "What was that?" You wiped your face and said, "Abby, there's something I have to tell you. I was meaning to tell you in the car, but I couldn't because I was afraid." I felt my amplified heartbeat over my ears, I was losing my ability to hear. "W-what were you gonna tell me?" You grabbed my hands, and I looked into that vast sea of oppurtunities. "I'm going to UCF. I transferred from the University of Michigan because I knew I wanted to be with you, and I needed to be closer to you. Luckily, they had a few spots left for this semester." This time I hugged you, and you lifted me off the floor, my feet dangling. I was sobbing, my makeup getting out of place. This was it, we were going to college.
