After Natasha left, Rhea hadn't been
able to shake the smile that engraved itself of her face. Every little thing that she did made Rhea feel giddy. When Natasha made her leave when Rhea's second lecture of the day drew close, she had squeezed her hand.

Rhea felt like a stupid schoolgirl. Worked up over holding hands. It made it different when the other hand was a beautiful red haired avenger.

She had tried to stay and grade papers that needed to be returned but it was useless, Rhea had never been more distracted from her work. As much as she loved teaching, she hated grading anything.

With all her papers in her case, the Lawson woman slowly made her way out of her office. The day was clear, the air was still cold but it wasn't pouring down rain so, Rhea always took that as a positive thing.

The walk home was quite and serene. A breeze tickled her cheeks, making her nose red. A few people recognized the woman and waved joyfully. Politely, Rhea returned their gestures.

The interaction made her uneasy. People in her home town knew each other, and as all small towns do, they had a knack for knowing when someone had a secret and what it was.

Rhea now has an immeasurable secret that could determine three-now four peoples lives if any ever found out.

She still held the stress and worry of her little afternoon thinking session on her face when she walked in the door. Rhea had always worn her feelings on her sleeve and was never good at lying.

With a huff Rhea plopped down on a velvet armchair in the living room. With closed eyes, she slowly massaged the bridge of her nose. Her tan hand stretched out and wrapped around a small red book sitting nearby.

The book was a prominent piece of Rhea's childhood. It was the same one her father used to read to her before bed. It held different myths and tales from Greek mythology, the very subject that the professor taught.

A small smile made its way into Rhea's lips at the nostalgia of it all.

"What's that?" A soft voice called from over her shoulder.

With a quick smile directed towards Natasha, Rhea explained, "It's nothing. Just an old pick-me-up. It's a bit boring actually."

Natasha gracefully made her way over to the velvet armchair. The same smile on her lips. She made everything feel so right, Rhea thought. The way she moved to they way her eyes danced when she was amused. Rhea had gotten used to the ex-avengers presence in her home, but she wasn't sure if she would ever get bored of her.

"Well if it has anything to do with you, how could it ever be boring?" The red haired woman sat down on the floor and leaned against Rhea's legs. "Read to me."

It was so sweet and innocent, Rhea could never deny the woman her wish. A smile grew on her face. Natasha must have mistaken her silence of admiration for hesitation.

Her head craned up at Rhea, searching for answer in her face. "I'm mean only if you want to," she stated.

"I would absolutely love to. Just give me a moment to find a good story."

Rhea and Natasha stayed like that for a while. Rhea reading her favorite stories, making up different voices for different characters and adding side comments of her own.

It was a calming thing, for the both of them. Together it was as though the outside world didn't even exist.

After quite some time, they had moved into the kitchen so that Rhea could make some tea. Natasha had laughed at her when she abruptly stopped the story and stated that she need tea if they were to continue.

Rhea had made herself a cup of the stuff rather quickly, falling into the familiar motions. Natasha had to contain her laughter as Rhea recited the steps to herself.

Not long after, the pair had gathered blankets and situated themselves on the couch once again.

Rhea had continued telling stories, although a different kind. She described her childhood, her mother and father, and her passion for history. Natasha propped her head against her hand and found herself smiling at Rhea's every word.

"So I was only about 3, and my father had the wonderful idea to teach me to swim by just plopping me in a lake not far from here. And so I-" Rhea was interrupted in the middle of her story by a ding coming from Natasha's phone.

Natasha's face fell. There had to be something wrong, Sam and Steve where the only ones who had her number and even then they never texted unless there was a serious situation.

Rhea saw the look of dread on the woman's face. "Nat? Is something wrong?"

Natasha couldn't even appreciate how it was the first time Rhea had called her 'Nat'. There on her screen where the words Wanda's in trouble - we need to go dark.
