Lance woke up to the sunlight streaming in through his balcony window. He could also hear the birds chirping. He had a slight headache from last night but he knew if he drank some water, he'd be just fine. Lance got up from his bed and walked into his closet.
What to wear, what to wear, what to wear... He walked around and looked at all his clothing. Ah-ha! He saw the most perfect outfit. It was one of his normal prince attire, but you could only wear so much as a prince. A knock came to the door."Uh, hello...Prince Lance...are you perhaps awake?" Lance heard Romelle call out from the other side of the door.
"Yes! Romelle! I am awake...you can come in now!" He said while giggling.
"Ahh, Lance. So your Father says he wants to see you in the throne room...like now..." She said calmly. Romelle was a maid in the palace. She had been working there since she was fifteen. But when she was a child, her mother worked there and she would play with both Lance and Allura. They had all known each other for a long time.
Lance sighed. "Alright...I'll go..could you bring some water to my room for when I get back, please?" He asked sweetly.
"Of course, but I'd warn you, he doesn't seem like he's very happy right now...so just be careful on what you say...okay?" She smiled at Lance. She was Allura's age and basically another big sister. She always looked out for him.
"Okie-dokie!" He shot finger guns at her and walked out the door.
Lance walked down the long corridors. It had seemed as it was almost yesterday since he had met his soon-to-be-husband Keith. Wait a minute...it was yesterday... Lance made a confused face. Today was starting off at a weird point. He finally reached the throne room and opened up the doors. He walked in and saw his father reading the weekly paper.
"Good morning, Father!" Lance chirped. He was in a pretty good mood due to what had happened last night.
"Good morning my son." King Alfor's voice bellowed.
"Where is everyone else?" Lance questioned. The king looked at him confused.
"Lance, you do realize that it is 6 a.m., don't you?" Lance paused a second. He looked down and said,
"So I could've been sleeping in right now..." He pouted.
"No, not really, because we have important business we need to talk about." Alfor put down his newspaper. Lance waited for him to talk. "Lance, we need to talk about you sneaking out last night... especially about the part where you dragged Prince Keith along with you." His father said sternly. Lance blushed, feeling embarrassed. He didn't know his father had known about it.
"Awww, well yes...umm.." Lance's eyes looked everywhere except at his father.
"I can understand wanting to get out of the palace I do..." His father paused while he pinched the bridge of his nose. "But making Keith, go along with you is unacceptable..."
Lance froze. "He came on his own, I didn't force him to go with me!" Lance stated.
"Oh, yes and I when I saw you leaving the castle grounds, dragging him along, I sent some of my most trusted colleagues to follow you." Alfor spoke. Lance was freaking out in his head. This was going to become a nightmare.
"Hahaha..." He laughed nervously. "You did what?" He looked at his father with a nervous smile along with him sweating profusely.
"I sent out some of my most trusted guards. I had to make sure you didn't get into anymore trouble than you usually do..." He sighed and looked into Lance's eyes. "I know about the man you punched...in the face...and I asked Shiro on the situation, because I know about his other job, and he told me that man had tried to touch you so......." His father paused. "All I can say is thank gods you know how to take care of yourself.." He smiled as Lance sighed out in relief.
"Well I can't really not afford to not know how to take care of myself. But besides that, I promise I didn't get into any trouble, I swear!" Lance placed his right hand on his heart and raised the other in the air.
"I know, besides if anything were to happen to you Keith was there, and even though he is a prince, he has been trained by the Galra. He could've protected you, so I wasn't that worried." Alfor rose out of his chair and walked towards Lance.
"Uhh..wait, what? You weren't worried because Kei-"He was interrupted.
"Lance he's basically a trained assassin." Alfor stated.
"Yeah, well, I mean-huh" Lance sighed. "Alright...I guess...you might just maybe...have a point." Lance mumbled the last part quietly. He pouted. He knew that he could take care of himself. He made sure to make that clear to Keith last night. God, why does nobody believe in me... he wondered.
He shook his head and rid of those thoughts. He shouldn't feel like this, he should just respect the fact that people don't look at him the same way as most because he's an omega. It's fine...all fine...Lance was brought back to Altea as he heard his father spoke. "And for the next three weeks I want you and Keith to get to know each other, connect. Because Lance, after, you and him are getting married and there shall be no argument about it." Alfor placed a hand on Lances' shoulder. "I know that you want to find true love son, but sometimes arrangements like these can be better than you know..." He spoke from the heart.
Lance, though he knew that Keith might of had a hint of attraction to him, was still unsure about the whole marriage thing, excuse me, whole arranged marriage thing. "Besides that's how your mother and I met...we actually one had a week to decide how we felt about each other. And though your mother was stubborn at first...we grew to like each other over time. We talked and connected-" Alfor began. "
Yeah, yeah, you guys had sparks there Dad! I don't even know if this guy even wants to get married, let alone to me. Dad, please tell me, does this look like the face a boy who wants to get married?" Lance gave his father a flashy fake smile that just screamed Honestly, why do I even try anymore.
King Alfor sighed at the sight of his sons face and pinched the bridge of his nose. "You are going to marry him without any complaints Lance. I don't want to hear anything from you, literally." Alfor remarked jokingly. "Anyways, now that we've discussed this, you may go an do anything you like, as long as it's inside of the palace grounds. It's your free day. I expect to see you at breakfast in an hour though." He said sternly as Lance nodded and walked out of the room.
"That kids' gonna be the death of me..." King Alfor sigh as he suppressed a laugh.
