Chapter 11

Jellal's PoV

Nami's grin grew before she continued. "That's easy, it's just a small task is all."

"Like what?" I needed to save Erza. Anything for her, I couldn't hurt her again, not like the tower...never again.

"I need you to hunt something down for me. It shouldn't be that hard with the amount of magic power packed into it."

"What exactly do you want me to hunt down?" I looked skeptical. Why couldn't she just send one of her "trusted friends"?

"It is a diadem. It is rose gold and contains immense power. It increases the power of the wearer. It releases their full potential as a wizard."

"You can't expect me to get that. It would be impossible. And the power it holds..."

"I will expect you to get it because you want Erza to be safe and unharmed. Do you really think that with how powerful you are when you can't so much as touch me, that she'd stand a chance?" My face darkened with every word she spoke. She was right. How could Erza hope to win? She's the queen of all magic...

She continued with a darker tone of voice, "If you expect me to release you, and to keep Erza unharmed, you will get me the crown."

I sighed and ran my hand through my dark blue hair. How would I get the crown? It could be literally anywhere. You'd think that with the kind of power it has someone would have found it by now. My eyes widened, someone could have found it. Somewhere that she can't go without making herself known.

"Where do you think that this crown is?" I asked, hoping that my hunch was wrong.

"I happen to know where. But if I go there then I won't make it out." She can't make it out? Where could it be that she can't make it out?

"Where is it?" I couldn't help but cough and stumble as I was trying to finish my question. Like that's going to help.

"Well it's in a top security magical asylum. They surveillance crazy wizards or those who can't control their magic, the only ones willing to got there are insane anyways. You'll have to hide your magic power until you get through. On your way out there will be an army cohort waiting to catch a lower magical powered thief. With your Meteor spell you should be able to get in and out without much trouble."

"How do I use Meteor if I'm hiding my magic? Why can't you go through? You could do it much quicker. Or any of your servants here? I bet they all are trained in magic."

"Yes, they are. But none of them can keep a secret. You've been interrogated by them, how did that go?" She asked with a sigh.

"Good point. Why can't you find better soldiers?"

"You think I can go recruiting? If I get the wrong person, I'll have the royal army on my doorstep. These things take time. You want Erza, so stop complaining and get cracking."

I couldn't think of anyway to go around it. I nodded my head to show my assent and she grinned like a child that got an early present.

"Thank you for your cooperation. I will see to it that Erza is safe from my forces, if she comes she will be treated as a guest as well as the other fairies that are here."

She walked out and locked up the door. I heard her say a few more words before she completely left me, "I will come for you when I have everything set up for you to go on the mission."

Before I could reply she was gliding up the steps like she was a ghost. Or an angel. As evil as she is, she really is quite attractive. I shook my head. I am doing this for Erza. I can't think about Nami.

How could this work? It's impossible. I can't bypass an entire army with just my Meteor. Why does she even need that crown? She is the queen of all magic. She has every old magic, she can do anything with magic... almost unlimited power.

And why does she bring up Erza? My eyes widen. Could she already have her? Is she a prisoner like me? I couldn't get that thought out of my head. It couldn't be possible.. it couldn't.

I succumbed to sleep and slumped against the wall in an uncomfortable position. My eyes were closed and the only thing I could hear was water dripping from a leak in the ceiling. My back was against the cool stone, twisted to be able to have as much warmth from the cell as possible.

My dream started on a cliff. I was sitting on a rock by a girl who was standing to my left. There was no noise but I knew that I was talking. Suddenly I was slapped by the girl. My cheek stung as I look up at her, she had long scarlet hair and tears at the corners of her eyes. Her light purple dress was flowing gently in the wind. I could tell that she was yelling at me, even if I didn't hear the words in my dream. I knew what she was saying. I kept replying in the same monotonous voice as she became angrier with every word that I said. She suddenly grabbed the collar of my cloak and pulled me to my feet, I didn't meet her eyes as she kept talking. 

She leaned forward and lost her balance, tripping over the rock that I had previously been sitting on. We rolled down the rocky path that we had taken up to the cliff. When we stopped it was on the sandy beach, I was on top of her and golden flakes of light that had come out of flowers that we hit on our way down were in the air. A few more words were said, this time in a softer tone, no longer yelling or angry. Tears flowed down her cheek and she whispered my name, placing her hands on the sides of my head as she did. I gently wiped away her tears with my thumbs while leaving my hands on her cheeks. She leaned in, our lips barely touched before I pushed her away. We were now sitting on our knees, her cheeks tinted pink and her breath caught in her throat. And the first words that I could hear came out of my mouth. "I can't. I have a fiance."

My eyes shot open as I remembered the scene that happened not so long ago. There seemed to be a loud crash that shook the cell I was in. Was I imagining it? No.. the noise sounded again. What could it be? I stood up and ran to the heavily locked door of my cell. Something flew in front of it and I saw a figure that was enclosed in shadow in front of the door. Who is this person? Did they cause the crash?
