"Ekh!! It's gross down here!!" Sean groaned as he landed in slime through the trap door. Alyssia jumped after him, followed by Edward. "This way!!" Alyssia started walking. Sean produced a ball of fire for light. After walking for hours, they reached another doorway. Alyssia touched the stone block in front of it and the door opened with a clang. Edward and Sean stared at Alyssia. "Um, how do you know all this? Have you ever been down here?" Edward asked. "Yes!" she answered. "What? Why?" Sean was bewildered. "Came here with father. He had some work." "And he brought you with him?" "No, I followed him and he couldn't leave me alone in the woods. Really didn't have a choice." "What business would he have here?" Edward asked, looking around. "He's a dodgy man. Could be anything." Sean said. "He sent me to kill a couple of men a few weeks ago. He didn't say why. Paid me a good fortune though!" "You kill for money?" Edward was shocked. "I'd kill you if the money was good." Sean laughed. "You're creepy, has anyone told you that?" Edward said. "Shh... I see something." Alyssia jumped at the sight of a small creature. "What brings you here, mortals?" the creature shrieked. "We're looking for the hidden lake, goblin!" Sean answered. "Hmm... and why should I let you pass?" he asked. "What do you want?" Sean asked. "Him!" he pointed towards Edward. "His blood!!" he licked his lips and smiled at Edward. "DON'T YOU DARE!!!" Sean planted himself between Edward and the goblin. "I'LL BEHEAD YOU IN A HEARTBEAT IF I HAVE TO!!" "Hmm, you're a Mitchell. Aren't you? Foolishness runs in your family." he laughed. "I am a Mitchell and bravery runs in my family. You'd be a fool to think otherwise. Those might be your last words, goblin!!" "Ah! Your parents were brave too. Look where that got them, and you? No one will come to save you here, pretty boy!!" he took a step ahead. Sean's eyes fell on a scar on the goblin's head. "That scar! I've seen it before... YOU WERE THE ONE WHO KILLED MY PARENTS!!!" Sean's voice echoed. "Yes, yes. Smart boy, but not smart enough. Now, I don't have all day to chat with you. Give me what I ask and you shall pass. Or... I shall host a feast for my family... with your flesh!!" the goblin took out a dagger and swung it around Edward's leg, making it bleed. "You..." Sean charged. "Sean!!! Stop." Alyssia yelled. "Elf girl... Earl's girl?" "Yes!" "Little Alyssia!" the goblin bowed. Edward and Sean looked at each other. "You may go now!!" he stepped aside and let them pass.
"What the hell happened?" Sean asked once they were out of goblin's earshot. "He knew you and your father?" Edward asked. "I told you I came down here with him. Maybe he's more famous than I thought." Alyssia answered. "I... think there's something fishy!" Sean said. "Huh?" Alyssia turned towards him. Sean pointed towards a mark on the nearby wall. "See that? It's his mark!" Sean shook his head in disbelief. "Malum!!" "Sean, we're in the dark realm. He lives here." Alyssia rolled her eyes. "No... I mean yes. But look at the colour of the mark. It's red. It means it was made less than an hour ago!" "So what?" "It's a little transformed. Look closely. Those arrows, they weren't in the symbol when I saw it on the goblin when he killed my parents." "Arrows?" Alyssia's eyes widened in horror.
