Chapter Thirty

(AN: No work or school tonight so you all got an update. This one has a little more information and things are explained a little more about Ezra's situation. Ryder and Sophie of course, are now Forever Soul Mates (which is what Semper Sodales means) but Ryder is abiding by her wishes and is taking everything slow...but thats just cuz he is just as confused as Sophie. Because Remeber the who life mate thing is rare and the Semper Sodales is ever rarer....anyways. This is leading up to all the action which is going to happen in the next part in chapter 31, eeek i cant believe that I'm 31 chapters in. Whats an apprpriate amount of chapters because I' m no where close to being finished with Sophies story and Im not sure if I want to write a sequel. :( Anyways. Chapter Thirty

Ryder was holding me as I cried incoherently into his shirt. I didnt feel humming, i didnt feel a magnetic pool, i didnt feel a rush of desire. What I felt was beyond that...it felt like I was meant to be there, in his arms. "Whats going on?' I heard him ask Charlee. "I dont know maybe her brains fried?" she said. i started laughing hysterically after that. Leave it to Charlee. Ryder pushed me away slightly and looked me in the eyes. Oh wow, he had sea green eyes..."Whats this crying bit about?" he asked. Jax and Cam decided to show up then, strutting into my newly acquired room, whose door was now laying broken on the floor.

Cam crossed his arms. "Seriously Soph, now I'll have to replace the door," he whined. "Hey I didnt break it!" I exclaimed. Ryder blushed again. He was cute when he blushed. Actually he was cute all the time come to think of it. Jeesh here i was going all ga ga over a guy I had literally just met...again. It felt like de ja vu. 

"So what was this screaming and crying about?" Jax asked staring at me. I sighed. I didnt have much time to think of a Plan B so I just went with Plan A. "Julianne was here and she gave me a message," i said.

"You're not meeting her!" Cam snapped. Jax nodded in agreement. "I wasnt even supposed to tell you! She'll kill Ezra if she finds out!" I snapped back. Jax started laughing. "Ezra is her toy, she wouldnt do a damn thing to hurt him," he told me. "But you are right, you do need to meet her. Just dont go anywhere with her," he said. I rolled my eyes. "Like I'll have a choice?" I asked. "Oh you will. She wasnt really in here you know, she astral projected thats the only way she could come on this territory, otherwise she would need my permission and she sure as hell doesnt have it," He told me. 

"So then....how is the Luna Pack going to get into Peril then?" I asked. "One of my Pack is going to be stupid enough to cross over into Harmony, it will give them the right to attack." Cam explained. "You crossed into Harmony all the time," i said. I was trying to understand this. it wasnt working. it was like a math problem that someone was trying to explain to me in Japanese. "The Luna Pack and the Solar Pack werent trying to kill each other then,' Cam said exasperatingly. "Oh yeah the whole truce thing because Ezra had stepped down..." I froze. Oh shit. "Is Sam trying to kill us too?" I asked, that was Charlee's brother. Charlee smiled a grim smile. 'No one wants to kill you, for some reason Julianne wants you alive, therefore Ezra wants you alive, Sam wants to kill us, since I went rogue, that includes me,' she stated. 

"You're his little sister!" I exclaimed. Ryder flinched at the intensity in my voice. Family was a touchy subject with me since mine just fed money into my bank account and sent me birthday cards a month late. "Yeah but Im no longer part of the pack, Im considered a threat," she annotated. 

"Okay, wow, this is fucked up," I murmured. "Yeah well you started it," Charlee said laughing. I fell back against my bed, "Dont remind me," I said staring up at the ceiling. Tonight was going to be fun

"Okay," Cam said as he came back into the house. We had been waiting for him for over an hour, he had went to talk to his pack, Ryder had stayed behind though, for what reason I wasnt sure. "Apparently everyone understands but one of them is going to fuck up, Julianne forseen it, which one it was Im not sure but everyone out there is prepared. They will shift once the border is crossed and they will circle the house in shifts. Charlee and you, Sophie will be in here, and you will not open the door for anyone. Julianne is an Original Witch she can take the form of anyone." he told us. Charlee smirked. "They arent vamps, Cam, a locked door wont keep them out," she said. 

"Okay smart ass, a locked door wouldnt keep vamps out anyways, they need an invitation," he retaliated. Vamps? I was just getting used to the idea of werewolves! "Anyways," Ryder said, trying to get the subjct back on track. "I'll be in here with you all," Jax said. "I'm kinda important too. If one of them kills me the bind is broken and then well...lets not think about that. I'll know who can come in and who can come out and I'll be here to help enforce that." he looked at Charlee. "Can you still shift?" he asked. She nodded. "Okay then we really shouldnt have much to worry about," he told us all, sitting back against the living room couch and crossing his legs. 

"What do you mean?" I asked. "well she can still shift which means she can protect you when its time for you to go to the border," he said. "Im supposed to go alone!" I bellowed. "I think not," Ryder said. He crossed his arms and I crossed mine to. Yeah I was being childish. So sue me. "I concur to that," Cam said. "Charlee can stay far back enough that Julianne cant see or sense her, but you need someone to go with that knows how to fight if need be, and Ryder and I have to hold down the home-front and Jax has to stay inside," Cam stated. 'Oh this is ridiculous," I murmured as I sat down on the arm of the chair closest to me. 

"I gave orders to everyone to not harm any of the others unless it came down to it, we still dont kill unless we have to," Cam clarified. "What do we do now?" Ryder asked. "We wait," Jax said from his position on the couch. I looked at him. He was staring at the clock above the mantel. 2 hours until they attacked and 2 hours until I had to go meet a bitch. Pardon me. A witch.

Cam paced in front of the mantel and Ryder was rubbing his beard over and over again. Charlee was idly picking at her nails and Jax was shaking his leg. I, however was going completely insane. We had an hour left before all hell broke loose. 

"Sophie," Ryder asked. I looked at him. "Why do you want to save him so bad?" he questioned. "This better have nothing to do with that stupid complex," I snapped. "Its an honest question, you cant save someone who doesnt want to be saved," he said. I frowned. What did that mean?

'He doesnt deserve to die or be under her control, to me its one in the same. He told me he had seen enough destruction, I know he doesnt want this." I told him. Jax joined in after that. "he also was okay with dying, which is why he agreed to offer himself up that day in the woods," he told me. i stood up from the chair. "I dont believe that someone just wants to die, yeah he had a bunch of shit happen to him but thats a scapegoat." I snapped. "Is it?" Jax questioned me. He was still on the couch staring up at me. "My mother may have taken away his feelings for you but he can still think for himself, he's doing what she wants not only because his Pack is bound to her still but because in the end...he could die and thats what he wants." I clenched my jaw. I didnt believe that. I couldnt afford to believe that. I loved him. right? 

"Like I said," Ryder asserted softly. "You cant save someone who doesnt want to be saved," 

I looked up at the clock. 55 minutes couldnt come fast enough. I wanted this day done and over with.
