Thor has always liked Bruce. He was kind and smart, and just a nice person to be around. After spending so much time with him on that strange planet, he began to realize his feelings weren't exactly that of friendship. Each shy smile and giggle, every time he dipped his head down in embarrassment, made his heart beat faster. Thor was usually good at wooing whoever he wanted, but Bruce was surprisingly oblivious for someone so intelligent. Every time he tried flirting with him, he either didn't know what he was doing, or would laugh it off and try to hide his blush.
When his attempts at romance were brushed off as a joke, he would see the pitiful yet amused looks sent his way from their teammates. Tony had come up to him more than once offering to tell Bruce that he liked him, claiming that the scientist was quote, "dumb as all fuck" when it came to acknowledging romantic advances. He of course declined; he needed to tell him himself.
And yet, every time he tried, his throat dried up and he couldn't find the words. He remained determined however.
They were finally alone once more. The rest of the Avengers were busy, leaving the two of them on the couch in the living room. He kept scooting closer, inch by until their shoulders touched. He saw Bruce glance at him out of the corner of his eye, swallowing nervously as he leant into the larger man.
"You w-wanna watch a movie or something?" he asked, looking up at him. Thor smiled, "Sure! Whatever you want!" They settled on some cheesy comedy, laughing at the awkward pauses and weird deliveries. Thor loved the sound of his laugh, and longed to hear more of it.
"Did I ever tell you about the time I fought a space monster thiiiiis big?" he asked, using the classic move of stretching out his arms and setting his right arm over Bruce's shoulders. The other man furrowed his brows and glanced at the hand resting at his side before turning to him.
"That looks pretty puny considering some of the things you've fought." Thor's mouth hung open in shock before a lopsided grin took its place. He waggled a finger at him as he spoke, "Ah, that's a joke isn't it."
Bruce chuckled and shook his head fondly. "Yeah, that was a joke." Thor smiled softly, his arm propped up against the back of the couch, his cheek resting in his hand.
"You have a nice laugh," he complimented him. Bruce looked at him, cheeks tinted a nice rosy pink. The corners of his lips quirked up, "Really?"
Thor nodded, "Really. Do you mind if I hear it some more?" he asked.
"I-I mean sure, but you kinda have to make me laugh first." And because Bruce felt bolder than usual, he added a wink. Thor tilted his head, a perfect idea taking root.
He smirked, pouncing on him suddenly and pinned him to the couch. "That can be arranged!" Before the other man could even question what he meant by that, Thor struck down on his stomach. His fingers kneaded into the slight pudge, causing Bruce to burst into embarrassed giggles. He swatted at the hands aimlessly, not doing much to stop him.
He tried to roll onto his stomach to protect himself, but Thor simply turned him back over. "Oh no, you're not getting away that easy!" he cried out before forming claws with his hands. He moved them closer and closer, wiggling his fingers in the air above him. Bruce was giggling madly and he hadn't even touched him yet. When he finally touched down, bubbly laughter burst from his lips like an opened bottle of champagne. He managed to grab a hold of his wrists, but didn't push him off. Interesting.
"Thohohohor stohop!" he protested, though he just laid there not trying very hard to get away. Thor smirked down at him.
"If you really wanted me to stop you could make me," he teased. Bruce flushed a lovely shade of pink and hit his shoulder lightly.
"Shuhut uhuhup!" he giggled. Thor admired the way Bruce's eyes crinkled at the corners when he smiles, the laugh lines that showed he lived a life full of joy. His hair was gently tussled and messy in the best of ways as he squirmed in his hold.
"Make me then." It happened quick and without warning. Bruce wrapped his arms around Thor's neck, pulling him down. Bruce leant forward and crashed their lips together in a short sweet peck. Thor sat in shock, his mouth agape. Bruce mistook Thor's awed silence as something else.
"I-I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done that I-" but he was cut off when Thor placed his finger to the other man's lips to quiet him.
"Don't apologize. You have no idea how long I've been waiting for this." Bruce broke out in a shy grin, fixing his glasses.
"Then I better not keep you waiting much longer." They embraced each other once more, finally receiving the affection they both had been craving for a long time.
