The dim red light lit up the bar, shining its light gracefully on a bunch of drunk homosexual adults. There were notes with numbers scribbled on them getting passed around like people were playing hot potato.
A pair of chocolate brown eyes were scanning the room, searching for their next prey Whizzer Brown took another sip out of his strong drink, crossing his beautifully long legs as he narrowed his eyes just slightly.
"Might just go home with the bartender again." he disappointingly muttered underneath his breath.Suddenly, the sound of a door opening and a wet umbrella folding down filled his eardrums.
He snapped his eyes towards the direction and his brown eyes met a breathtaking shade of blue. A smirk crawled its way up to his face when he saw the ring on the man's finger. Perfect. This will be fun.
The man anxiously looked around the pub, as if he was searching for anyone that could ruin his disguise. After studying the room around twenty times, he nodded and sat down at the other end of the bar. Whizzer was just close enough that he could hear the shorter man order a beer. His smile grew wider as he got off of his seat and walked over to the chair next to the older.
"Put that on my tab. " was the only thing he said as he sat down.
He could hear the man scoff almost right away as he rolled his eyes with a hint of a smile. "I can very well pay for myself. "
"Don't want you to. "
"I see. Well, I guess that I appreciate the gesture. My name is Marvin. " he announced after a couple of seconds of silence, reaching out his hand to shake Whizzer's.
"Whizzer" he replied as he ran a palm through his over-gelled hair, ignoring Marvin's stretched out hand.
"That can't be your real name. " Marvin remarked, awkwardly retracting his handshake and wiping his palm on the surface of his beige cargos.
"Well, it is, quite remarkable, right?"
"A remarkable name for a remarkable man?"
"In just what ways am I remarkable? Hm?" Whizzer murmured as he leaned closer to the older, sneakily putting a hand on his thigh.
The blue-eyed male glanced down at the taller's hand, his cheeks taking a pink tint to them. However, he didn't push the hand away, instead, he looked back up at Whizzer, a bit more confident this time. "It was more of a question than a statement. But I guess that you're one of those pretty boys. Which isn't just a good thing, you kn--"
" You think that I'm pretty?" the smirk widened as he got even closer in an attempt to fluster the man up even more. Whizzer could see that it was working, as the other man got more flustered by the second.
"Well yes, but that was just an observation. "
"Is that why you walked into a gay bar?"
"It was raini--"
By now, the flirty man had found his way to Marvin's ear, breathing warm air onto his bare skin. "Tell me that this doesn't make you feel anything. Then I'll leave you alone "
The shorter didn't respond, instead, he just exhaled a shaky breath as chills went down his spine.
"Does your wife know?"
At that, Marvin pulled away dramatically, almost falling off his chair. "How did you--"
"The ring. C'mon, I've seen your type over a hundred times. A tired dad and husband, neglecting the fact that they're gay. " Whizzer replied with an innocent smile. "I have to say, the closeted type is my favorite"
"I'm straight--"
"That's what they all say. We're not in the eighties anymore, there's nothing to be ashamed of. And if you are so straight, how come that you're blushing like a mad man?"
"... Uh... I love my wife very much. "
"But not in the way that you want to?"
With that, silence fell over them once again, with Marvin sipping his beer from time to time. After at least ten minutes of silence, the shorter one of them broke it. "I wish that I was normal, I really do. "
"But you are normal, Marv, is it alright if I call you that? Who cares. The point is, there's nothing unusual with liking men "
" There is when you've been married for almost ten years and have a child together."
"It's not too late to turn around. You don't need to be living a life of lies, I can help you with that."
"Yeah... "
"Look, I didn't come here looking to be a therapist, I came because I thought that you were cute. However, it doesn't seem like you're in the emotional state to get funky, so I'll leave you alone. " Whizzer sighed and stood up, maybe his charm didn't work this time.
Suddenly, he could feel a hand grip onto his, proving him wrong. Before he knew it, a pair of lips were on his. A feeling that he's never felt before filled his chest. Sure, Whizzer has hooked up before, but none of them made him feel as warm inside as Marvin did. Before he could dive too deep into these feelings, his thoughts got cut off my the shorter beginning to speak.
"There's a motel close by, I'll pay." was all Marvin said. Those simple words were the start of both the best and worst years of his life.
