It was, unfortunately, already October 5th. The day when Yui would definitely move to Canada, and would separate from Yuzumi. No, neither was comfortable with it. But, Yui had no choice. If she could, she would definitely stay with Yuzumi, or take her. But she really had no choice, her destiny was to live in Toronto, outside the media, at least for a while. Her parents were tired of it, and she couldn't refute it, as she was too, anyway. Her biggest problem was: Yuzumi was her best friend for years. The two did not let go for nothing; even with fights, they couldn't stay away from each other. But this time, there was no choice. No more hugs in a matter of hours. When Yuzumi was sad, Yui would no longer be able to hug her, and it hurt a lot for both of them. They would no longer feel each other's heat in a matter of hours. Then, for a more appropriate farewell, the two arranged to meet on the Meguro River. It was spring, it would be something really beautiful; sakura blossoms everywhere. And that place marked the friendship of both, the place and the sakura tree itself. From an early age, when they went to Tokyo, they admired the river full of sakura leaves together. Even though Yuzumi was always very restless, she paid attention to the beauty of such a nature. And they wanted to remember that moment, to have a more recent memory of the place; After all, they could only meet again after a long time, and they didn't even know if it would be possible. They had scheduled at 7 pm, which seemed a bit late, but Yui's flight was at 11 pm. They wanted to enjoy Yui's real last moments. Yui might have slept at Yuzumi's house the day before, but the rush to pack and pack up was counter. So it would really be a date on the Meguro River. It was 19:03, and Yui was already at the meeting point she had scheduled. Yuzumi was still coming; As always, late.
Yui had spent minutes distractedly listening to music at a medium volume so that if Yuzumi screamed, she would hear. She was listening to Taeyeon, was a big fan of hers, and her songs matched that moment, specifically Farewell. She was listening and remembering they moments together. When they skipped class together for the one and only first time; when they performed their first performance at Ciao Smiles; when they hunted fireflies in the summer at Yui's grandparents' house; when they dressed as geisha for the first time; when they raced to see who came home first and Yuzumi almost broke her nose, among many others. The last was the one that Yui liked the most because, for her, such a moment was so funny and hopeless; Yuzumi's nose and knees were bleeding and she was crying endlessly, and Yui didn't know what to do. After that, they never again ran races where the path involved stairs. But despite the discomfort at the time, these were very good memories today. More than good. Very special. Yui remembered them with a smile that went from ear to ear. Those who passed around thought she was crazy, but she didn't even realize she was being watched. It was in its own world. The only thing that was able to get her out of such a world was Yuzumi's scream from afar; At first, she thought it was her imagination, but as the scream persisted, she decided to turn back, and saw the scene, of Yuzumi running with a bag in hand, making people necessarily open spacr for her. Yui did not settle for such a situation and laughed nervously. Yuzumi arrived, panting, and greeted her with a hug.
— Finally! Look, it's already 19:06! — Yui said, showing her cellphone time to Yuzumi, who rolled her eyes.
— The important thing is that I'm here, isn't it? — made a mocking face, Yui laughed. They both turned serious, and Yuzumi began to cry desperately. — Yui, please... — Yuzumi let out in tears. Yui hated to see that. Yuzumi crying for sadness. It was one of the worst things for her. Her heart was very, very tight, and this time, there was no solution. Yui just hugged her tightly, and whispered, in a cheerful tone, trying to calm Yuzumi:— I'll see you again, okay? I promise it won't be long. — They broke away from the hug and faced each other deeply. Yuzumi suddenly smiled, which made Yui smile too.
— Here. For you. — Yuzumi extended her arms, giving the bag to Yui. The bag was a ard pink cardboard with sakura details. It was something very special considering their whole tory. Yui opened another smile again. Inside was a strawberry-pink scent; a palette of shades of arious shades of pink; a letter from Yuzumi; a paint of the two hunting fireflies, painted by uzumi herself. It was a good deal, but it should be anyway, as it would take time for them to meet gain.
— Don't open now !! — Exclaimed Yuzumi, with the scene of Yui already tearing the seal of the bag. Yui stuck her tongue out at Yuzumi, and took her hand. They turned to the river, which was filled with floating sakura flowers.
— You know, Yuzu... I think it'll be better for me. I will have a new life. I'll meet new people, a new place. Try to think this way. — Said Yui, who immediately sighed.
— I try, Yui. I try. But it is hard. Very difficult. You're so special to me, I can't imagine my future without you. It's hard to know that we won't be able to hunt fireflies together anymore or whatever, just sleep together... I appreciate any moment with you so much... I didn't want that to end. — Yuzumi started crying again, covered her face with her own hands. Yui hugged her, and started crying too. — Yui, I love you. I just love you. I do not want it. I hate loving you, damn it.
— I love you too, Yuzumi.
— Not like that, Yui. I love you! I love LOVE, love how boyfriends love each other, how our chemistry teacher loves our arts teacher! I love you more than as a friend, it hurts me a lot — Yuzumi cried more and more. Yui was completely amazed at this situation. She didn't expect that from Yuzumi. It was something completely new. They parted, and Yuzumi hid her wet face with her warm hands again. Yui didn't know how to respond.
— Yuzu... look at me. — Yui took Yuzumi's hands from her face and covered them with her own hands. Yuzumi was reluctant but opened her eyes. Couldn't face Yui, looked like she was sorry and desperate to get away. — Hey... I love you too. Very much. And... I just wasn't ready. For you to feel the same as I do and to declare it from one moment to the next. I really really love you. OK? — Yuzumi raised her head and looked at Yui, who was smiling and crying at the same time. Yuzumi didn't seem to believe it, and nodded with "no" while Yui nodded as "yes". Yuzumi was too thrilled for that moment. If Yui didn't expect that, Yuzumi expected even less. Her feelings of sadness, passion, and happiness mingled in her tears. Their love was reciprocal, but it could not happen. For several reasons. Yuzumi was still at Amuse; Yui would be far away; The society was very homophobic. That was so desperate for both of them.
— I wanted so much, that you were with me, but I know you can't... and it's your destiny to stay here in the media, bringing joy to your fans. You should not sadden them. — At that moment, they could only cry. And smile, because their loves are reciprocal. — Look, I hope you enjoy it here, even without my presence. I'll always call you and text you, ok? I promise. Pinky. — Yui extended her pinky towards Yuzumi, who did the same. They crossed them, and shake them. That, for them, was like connecting their hearts. Whenever they did, it was a very serious promise, and none were ever broken. They were not allowed to break each other's hearts.
