Ladybug's POV

"Are you alright?" I asked the person lying a few feet in front of me. After I had finished purifying an Akum, I saw the body fall from the sky. It didn't take long for me to rush over to the figure, wanting to make sure they were okay. Upon getting closer, I saw they were wearing an outfit I was all too familiar with. "Chat?" Surprise and excitement filled my chest, though they were both short lived feeling.

"Not exactly" A female voice answered, her words drawn out in pain. She slowly sat up, rubbing her head. Getting closer, I began to examine her. Piercing e/c eyes were scrunched along with her, what can only be described as a cute, nose. Her h/c hair was pulled back into a ponytail, but her face was still framed by some of her hair which hung loosely. It took me a moment to realize that my mouth was agape while I was looking at her.

"Are you my new partner?" I asked, attempting to get rid of any disappointment in my voice, but I think she could still hear it. Though maybe her face scrunched do to pain, and not a cringe of my tone. I held out my hand to the girl, helping her onto her feet.

"I think so, honestly I don't know anything about this miraculous stuff. I don't know who thought it was a good idea to give me this ring, but I really don't think I'm hero material. Hell I don't even do cardio, how am I expected to fight villains, bore them with my intense knowledge of youtubers?" The girl chuckled. When she opened her mouth, I couldn't help but stare at her (plump/full/thin/etc.) lips. I began to laugh with her, attempting to cover my blush. I don't know what has gotten into me.

"I can help you with training. I know that hero work is a huge responsibility, but you were chosen for a reason. Master Fu rarely makes mistakes" I told her. I watched an expression I couldn't place flash on her face.

"Mr. Fu..." she mumbled to herself before directing her attention to me. "Look, like I said early, I'm not Chat Noir. Hell, I don't know if I could be half of Chat, I really don't know what to do here. I mean this shit is crazy".

"What's your name?" I asked.

"Y/...."I quickly cut her off.

"NO! I mean your superhero name". Her mouth formed an 'O' shape as red dusted her cheeks.

"I, uh, haven't thought of that yet. What if I go with something close to the original, that way I don't seem so different to people... Like uh, Chaton Noir. Because I'm newer than Chat" she proposed.

"Well Chaton" I began, looking at her intently, "You don't know if you can be Chat? The answer is that your right. You can't be him, you'll never be him. I wouldn't expect you to be. You are a different person, a new and unique superhero. Don't try to replicate him, you have your own set of strengths and weaknesses to bring to the table. Remember that". Chaton stared at me, a look confusion on her face.

"You really want me to bring myself to the table?" she asked hesitantly.

"Yeah, I do". She looked down for a moment, as if she was processing my words before looking back up at me, a large smile on her face. It was one of those goofy smiles where your cheeks go up far enough to cover your eyes, and her (crooked/straight/etc.) teeth were on display to the whole world. The smile made my heart beat faster, showing itself to me like it was one of the seven wonders of the world. Though this was better, it was it's own wonder of the world. The wonder of my world.

"Hey Ladybug?" Chaton asked softly, breaking me from my trance

"Yes Chaton?" I answered, my breath catching in my throat.

"Can you teach me how to take the suit off?"

Your POV

I was never a stranger to the late hours of the night. Back in the states, those hours felt different. It felt like some kind secret that you shared with the moon. Here, in Paris, it felt normal. The black sky didn't edge you into sleep, it welcomed you. Sleep felt impossible, lights from the city invading my room through the window. Plagg laid curled up on one of my pillows, snoring loudly. I tried to avoid tossing and turning, but my attempts were futile. My mind roamed, being filled with a hundred questions. Who is Ladybug? Who is Mr. Fu? Why did pick me? What was my moms relationship with Drew? How come she never talked about him? How am I going to be a superhero without her? Who will I go to when things get too tough? Why do I have such strong feelings for Marinette when I hardly know her? Was she disappointed that I left the alley without her? Did she ever even come back for me?

I sat up on bed, staring at the dark that surrounded me. Tonight, the dark black corners of the large empty room made me shiver. A pit of loneliness set in my stomach, making my chest hurt. The bed made a soft creak as my weight left it. On my desk sat my favorite book, calling to me. I grabbed it roughly, far to tired to be gentle, and made my way to my balcony. Sitting in the small wire chair, I cracked open the book, and read until I saw the sun.
