Another day, walking into work. Today's a slow day, well Monday's always are. They are the days I have the least things to do.
All I have today is 3 appointments, one at 10:30, another 12 and last one at 2. Lots of spare time.
I log into the system and head for the adolescence ward. I've been working here at Belmont for only 7 months but this place feels like my second home. The newer patients not so much, but the other ones are so friendly seeing as they are in a psychiatric ward.
Our patients aren't the worst though, some are worse but most of them are here only for a year before getting discharged.Even though I'm the newest staff member I'm given the toughest case because I'm the so called 'best' doctor on ward. Being only 23, with 5 years of medical school, I just think the secret to helping the patient isn't to jump straight in, you should get to know them first.
After this like 4 minute walk, I've reached my desk. I grab my phone out of my back pocket and place it down onto my messy table. The times flashes on my phone '9.23'.
I have plenty of time, so I start some early spring cleaning, making sure to double check every piece of paper. One time I was lazy and didn't check and ended up throwing away a patient medical records.
That got me into some big trouble with my boss, Andy. He is calm, but when something happens he goes berserk.I see out of the corner of my eye, someone else grab their swivel chair and swivels up to me. As I hear a 'boo' and I realize it's Patrick.
'good try pat, next time'
'alright then, morning dun'
Patrick replys with such an excited tone
'what has you so excited this morning?'
'oh nothing, they discharged one of my patients last night, so another spare hour in my day'
'lucky, so are you still stuck with Brendon'
'sadly yes, haha, but they say at his rate, he should be discharged within the next few months'
'ooo, exciting, shouldn't you be given him his meds about now'
'oh yeh, right, cya later dun'
'bye pat'
One of my patients should be discharged soon, well from his files this Friday. Most patients have 2 or 3 different doctors, either a full time carer, or day and night as well as a psychologist. Patrick is Brendon full time carer, but he has, well had a another patients but he was discharged.
After an hour of tidying my desk up I pick up my files and walk to the room, I'm already greeted by him. The usual happens, the general suicide, depression and anxiety talks as well as coping stuff. The hour passes so quickly.
On my way back to my desk, I'm called in by Andy.
'hey Josh, come in here for a moment'
'yeah, what's up, better be quick'
'yeah, just a minute'
I take a seat at his table, like usual his desk is a mess.'so how you been Josh'
'pretty good, yourself'
'alright. I got a call from Delmont this morning'
' yeah and? '
Delmont was the local hospital not ineradicable far from here but the other side of town, they have a psychiatric ward, but small one.'well they have a patient, that they have had for over 3 years now, and heard about you '
'so? '
'management is transferring him here, and your his new full time carer'
'okay, exciting but what about my other patients?'
'don't worry, someone else will take them'
'okay, when is he coming then?'
'well, sometime today, but you begin with him tomorrow'
'okay, sounds good'
I stand up and push my chair in but as I'm walking out through the door Andy calls me back'just one thing Josh'
'yeah?'
'he might be a little too much, so if you need a break, just pop into my office'
'okay, cya around
'bye dun'
'bye Andy'
I take the files with me. I sit at my desk, staring down at these papers. I begin reading
The front of the file reads:Name: Tyler Robert Joseph
Age: 17
Year Admitted: 2016Wow, poor dude, almost 4 years. Josh flips to the next page.
Diagnosis: Generalized Anxiety Disorder ( GSD ) , Panic Disorders, Major Depressive Disorder, Anorexia
Characteristics ( Unique ): shy, or mute, scared of people, scared of sudden movements, scared of loud noises, scared of new things ( food, people, surroundings ), extremely sensitive

On the next page was just a bunch of his medical records.
From the 3 and a half years he has been at Delmont, it seems he hasn't made any improvement.
Joshes task, was to change that and he will not give up until he does.
Josh is so distracted by this file that he doesn't realize Patrick sneak up on him.'boo'
Josh falls back causing him to spill his water over himself.
'Patrick!'
'haha, got you this time'
'oi, that wasn't funny'
'haha, a yes it was actually'
'argh, your annoying'
'well, I heard from Andy, you got someone new'
'yeah, his name is Tyler'
'ooo, what about your other patients'
'Andy said he will organise someone else to take over for me'
'oooooo your gonna be a full time carer like me'
'well yeah I guess'
'twinnnnnns'
'well, I'm kinda nervous'
'how come?'
'I just read his files, he is known as the 'hopeless case'
'well if anyone can help him, it'll be you'
'well, I should get home and get some rest'
'cya tomorrow dun'
'bye pat'
I walk through the familiar halls until I reach the exit. I log out for the night and just walk at an really slow pace to my car.I reach my car, pop the keys in, and plop onto the seat.
'tomorrow will be new, but scary'
