Chapter 1 Part 2 A Regular Day

I stopped in front of my little cáfe. I opened the door and looked up. It felt good to run your own business, it's tough but it's worth it. I looked at the sign that read, Just Around The Corner Cáfe, I love this place. It was never mine at first.
No, it belonged to my old friend Tassy. She was really my moms best friend but, she was like a second mother to me. She passed away and left me this cáfe, I loved coming here when I was young. We would make food together and I would serve the customers food and take their orders, with Tassy's help of course. My mom would pick me up after work or she would stay with us and help. Those were the days I loved most. It was just my mother, Tassy, and I all having fun together. I miss her a lot but, God knows why she left this earth so I'll leave it all to him.
I started walking to the door when it opened, there stood Charles. I've known Charles since high-school, he's a really good guy and one of my closest friends. He's actually a dentist but he helps me here a lot when they need him at the office they call. "Hey there stranger. Need a drink?" He gave me bottle of orange juice. I stopped and looked at him. "How'd you know? This is my favorite." He started to laugh,"You know I read minds. Why are you so surprised?"
"Whatever. Get to work we have customers." He closed the door behind me. "Says the one who's late." I turned around and starred at him. "Ha! Late? I'm the boss so I can't be late. Once I get here, whoever comes in after me is late. You got that?" I took a long sip of my orange juice as I starred at him.
"Yes ma'm." he saluted me like a solider when he said that. "Thanks for the drink. Now come on we got some work to do." I patted his shoulder and walked towards my office. I said good morning to my employees as I passed them by.
When I got to my office, I closed the door and put my things down. As I was taking my coat of, I herd a voice which made me jump. "Still drinking that nasty orange juice I see." I jumped a little even though I was prettier sure I knew who it was.
"Anna! Don't scare me like that! And yes, I am because it's delicious and you know it. Your apple juice is what's disgusting!" She laughed. "You should've seen the look on your face." She pointed at me while smiling and walking towards my desk. "And wahtever. You know my apple juice will always win over your orange juice so calm down."
I scuffed. of course she would think that. She always has. "Look, for now, let's jus agree to disagree. Shouldn't you be dropping your little gorgeous minions of at school?"
"Well, no, Jhon's taking them to school today." She flipped her blonde hair to the right and laughed. "Today's my little break day. So, I'm coming here to help you." "I thought lawyers never had a break." She sighed and walked toward me. "We don't. But, we can choose time to have fun."
"That doesn't make sense." She smiled,"Not to you. But to me, it does."
She walked passed me and put an apron on. "Come on! We gotta work Audrey!" She threw an apron at me and grabbed my hand leading me to the kitchen. I started laughing as I tried my best not to trip over my own two feet.
"Okay! Calm down!" She stopped an looked at me, her green eyes shinning bright. "How about you hurry up." I put both hands on my hips and scuffed. "How about we play a game?" She crossed her arms. "What kind of game?" Charles popped up from behind the counter. "I love games! what are we playing?" I smirked, "Nosey much?"
"Nope. Just interested. So, what are we playing?" He hopped up and sat on the counter, his chocolate skin looked shinny for some reason and his white shirt was already wrinkled. He was a clean person don't get me wrong, but the only time he had ironed shirts were during church and graduation day.
He had hazel eyes and short black curly hair. He was pretty tall and built, with a funny personality to go with.
"Okay." I said. I smiled at both of them knowing they would do this. "Whoever serves the most tables and gets the most tips for the day wins. This also includes taking their order." Charles smirked, "Sounds easy enough. let's do it." I held up a finger, "But, if u drop food a tray or one of their forks and stuff, you lose 3 points. And my beloved chef Markell, will be the judge."
Markell looked up from the back of the counter. "Yes ma'ma! Count me in." His blonde spiky hair is the first thing that I saw, he smiled, and his dimple flashed. I swore I heard one of the girls in the kitchen gasp. He was one of the hotties of our town but any how he was good friend and great chef.
Charles looked at me. "Okay. Fine. I'm in, but let's get to the interesting part. What does the winner get? And what does the loser get?" Anna smiled "Yeah, what's the catch?" I smirked "The winner gets one of the losers tips. All of them. Of course they get to choose which losers tips they want to take. And get free drinks tonight from the other loser. The loser of course well that happens to them."
Charles clapped his hands together and smiled. "I'm in. Count me in." Anna smiled, "Well, I think you both know I'm going to win but, count me in." I looked her up and down, "Cocky much?" Charles frowned,"What you mean? I've worked here longer than you I'm gonna win." Anna smiled and rolled up her sleeves, "We'll see about that."
I lifted my hands up. "Let's just leave it to the judge. For now, every time you serve a table, you mark it under your name. But, to be sure you don't cheat, Clara here will be watching. Ain't that right Clara?" I clapped her shoulder. She smiled and nodded. "Of course."
Charles smiled, "What are we waiting for? Let's start." Anna cracked her knuckles,"Get ready to lose suckers. on three?" I smiled "On three." "One." Charles smirked, he was in a position to run, "Two." I looked both ways and yelled,"Three!"
We all ran to the front and went to take order from the first people we saw.
