Oh. Hi! My name is Kaylee, Kaylee Pereira. My family and friends call me Kay or Kaylee. It depends. I'm 18 year old half Portuguese and Thai. I was born in Melbourne, Australia and been living there ever since. But this year will be different, I applied for College here, majoring in Fashion Design. My mom and I lived by ourselves in our small Condominium in Melbourne, she asked me to homestay instead of living in a dorm. So.. Here i am, lost, in Santa Cruz, no idea what i'm doing.

"oh! that's my luggage!" i said to myself while grabbing my things
"bags done, now i have to search for Mrs. Birlem" i said whole looking around the airport pickup section. Then i see a lady in her 30's holding a paper with my name written on it.
"that must be her" i said, excited while coming towards her
"hi! i'm Kaylee and you must be Mrs. Birlem" i said while giving my hand for a handshake
"oh my gosh hi! You're right! and i'd rather you just call me Jen from now on. It's very nice to meet you in person! Wow, Elle (my mom btw) really has a beautiful daughter" she said then rubbing my right cheek
"hehe thanks, Jen" i said
Jen Birlem is my mom's bestfriend. They've known each other since elementary and keep in touch even after they both got married. Crazy. I know. Jen used to live in Australia but then decided to follow his husband, and moved to St.Cruz, USA. From what i've heard, they have 5 children. They are Bella, Scott, Joey, Sophia and Kashius. Comparing to my family, i only have one little sister, her name is Catherine.
"you must be tired, let's go" she said while helping my bring my bags
We got into the car, the car ride was surprisingly not boring. Jen introduced me to a lot of places in St. Cruz, from the restaurants, cafes, movie theater and so on. Then after about 30 minutes ride, we finally arrived.
Birlem's house is definitely 10 times bigger than my house. They have a swimming pool on the frontyard which is cool because i really love swimming and they have a huge automatic fence that open when their cars want to come in. The swimming pool also very private, there is a wall put up to keep the house really private. It's actually so wonderful, living here. I've never thought this family was this rich.
"come in! make yourself at home" Jen said while throwing her keys in a basket
"wow, you have a really nice house" i said while looking around
"it's nothing. you must be tired. come i'll show you your room and you can start unpacking" she said
as i walk upstairs to my room, i see many pictures hang to the wall. There are 2 girls and 2 boys in the picture. They must be their kids. I didn't pay that much attention to the pictures and without even realizing, i'm already in my room, which is the right room next to another bedroom.
"your bedroom will be next to Joey's" she said
"Joey?" i said
"he's my boy. i chose this because Joey barely comes home so you can focus on your study more here" she said
oh right. i almost forgot why i came to St.Cruz in the first place, school. ugh.
"right, thankyou Ms.Bir... i mean Jen" i said while giving her a smile
"if you need anything i'll be downstairs okay?" she said
"okay" i said then she closed the door
UNPACKING SUCKS. My bedroom is very cozy actually, with a beige carpet and white paint on the wall. My bed is also pretty big. As soon as Jen left the bedroom, i rest my body on the bed. The flight was too tiring for me. I check my phone and tell my mom that i'm safe and without even realizing, i'm slowly closing my eyes and fell asleep.
