They soon arrived at the ice cream place, getting the seat immediately after they walked through the door despite the place having a hefty amount of customers lined up. It was a booth in the corner, beside the window that had a beautiful view of the beach, and happy families and groups of teenagers having their time well spent.
Renjun awed at the view, he remembered going to their lakeside villa in Spain and running around in the bright grass that would tickle his feet, and splashing in the water, playing with the small fishes that would also tickle his feet. He missed that, he new the villa's they had around the world were still waiting for him, since kun wasn't very close with his parents, all of their savings and homes went to renjun, but they were locked up until he turned 18.
Kun actually argued with their parents a lot, he didn't understand their carefree and happy nature instead of furthering their careers, hence why kun and their parents never really understood each other. The last time kun visited their dad was when they first moved there, and since then only renjun walks through the homes sliding door every week or so, showing him his drawings and his dad giving the comfort and understanding no one else could.
He longingly looked at the blue sea and dark sand, he wished he could have his family back, all together, able to have fun on that beach as the sun set, but he knew that could never happen. Unknowingly, a tear dripped from his eye, slowly rolling down his cheek until it landed on the table, creating perfect circle.
"Junnie? Are you okay?? We don't have to have ice cream! Are you lactose intolerant? We can go to the McDonald's instead! Please don't cry.." Jaemin asked worried about the one across from him. Renjun snapped out of it and wiped his wet cheek, shaking his head, he then got his notebook that was in the front pocket of his overalls along with a pen and began writing a single sentence.
'I miss everything but I can't get anything back the way it was' he sadly showed it to Jaemin, "oh.. do you miss the beach? We can go there over the weekend! Or I can convince my parents to fly us out to your hometown in China? I can help you get everything back the way it was! I'll learn Mandarin for you!" Jaemin didn't understand, but how could he?
Renjun shook his head again with a sad smile, he knew that if Jaemin didn't leave him, and actually showed that he won't leave, he'll let Jaemin meet his dad. 'I appreshiate your efort but nothing can bring them back the way they were' renjun wrote, and it saddened Jaemin that he couldn't help, not yet at least, so he made up his mind, he would stay with renjun and help him with everything once he gained the smaller's trust. "Well, this date is not going to end up with us crying, so, since I never asked, how old are you?" Jaemin asked, lightening the atmosphere.
He learned that renjun skipped two grades in middle school so he was in junior year but only 16, so technically Jaemin was older. (I know that's not how it is just, shh) As Jaemin just finished figuring that out, a waitress came out, being Jaemin's, whatever you wanna call her. "Ahh jaemin, I told you that you would find a boy sooner or later" Li started, "as much as I hate to admit it, we aren't dating yet" Jaemin said, disappointed in a dramatic manner. "Yet. Anyway, what would you two like?" Li asked towards renjun.
Renjun looked at the menu for a few seconds, before pointing at pictures and words, hoping that it would make sense, luckily she got it all down, two scoops of cookie dough ice cream in a cone with white chocolate chips. Jaemin got pistachio with caramel drizzle, in a cup, since it was too much of a nice day to not, they decided to walk around.
"Why don't you write your answers and stuff in my phone notes? It's kinda hard walking and writing at the same time.." Jaemin said, pulling his iPhone out and going to notes, renjun nodded and carefully took the phone, acting like it was made of diamonds. They continued talking- Jaemin talking, renjun writing -about some more things, like funny stories and things like that, Jaemin had a lot of childhood stories, renjun did too but after that day they were made morbid and scary, unlike what a childhood should actually be like.
