I had the same dream that night, standing in the rose garden and following the boy in the labyrinth of arbors. As always, I've managed to get closer than I've ever been on the last occasion. He was one head taller than me. His wavy caramel hair was turned into blonde as the sun sucked its color. His beige salon coat was decorated with golden flourish. It was as if he had come out of a painting that I was not so surprised at, because the labyrinth of the rose garden was a perfect backdrop for him.
We were around for minutes when he did something he'd never done before. He turned around and smiled in my eyes. At that moment, I felt like I was coming home in the heat in the winter. When I was rocked as a child and fell asleep knowing I couldn't get hurt. There was something in his smile and two beautiful light brown eyes that moved warmth and a sense of security into one's heart. Maybe that's why, since I couldn't explain it to anyone else, I smiled back. Then he approached me and put a hair in my face behind my ear. The heat was flooded with his touch, I was probably tomato red from head to toe because his smile had become even wider. He reached for my hands, and after he caressed them he turned my palms upwards. In the meantime, he pulled a medallion out of his pocket. On the pendant was a heart-shaped, bronze, forged decorated padlock as an ornament. He slowly put it in my hand, and then after he let go of the necklace, he squeezed my hand. I didn't know where to put this sudden trust and immediacy. The boy continued to smile, that was when it clicked, he was waiting for me. What I'm going to give him in return. My realization has turned into fear and confusion. I didn't have anything. I didn't think I'd ever see the boy's face, let me get a gift from him.
- I'm sorry, but I wasn't prepared for you. And he laughed at that. His voice made my whole body shudder. It was rough and deep, but still sweet as honey.
- I think it's time you stopped by your pocket, gorgeous. Even though I had an incomprehensible look on my face, he didn't say anything else, so I reached into my pocket and I managed to get something cold in my hand. It was a tiny bronze key with tendrils on top of which was braided into a heart shape. I looked at the lock and then on the boy. He could tell that I was still out of the way because he laughed and said:
- What's going to happen, gorgeous? I gave you my heart. The question is, can you open it? - As sweet as he had a sweet smile and beautiful eyes, the guy started to annoy me. The key is exactly fit right in the hole. I turned it twice, and then it snapped. Suddenly the wind rose and everything around us began to turn into dust.
- What does that mean? - I asked him hysterically. I didn't understand anything, and I really didn't like the feeling of ignorance.
- Don't worry, beautiful, we'll see each other again. Not here, but I promise I'll run into you again and answer all your questions. In the meantime, watch out for the key to my heart. - Then he moved even closer and kissed me on my forehead. All of a sudden, everything was blurred around me and then I fell into the darkness of confusion and despair.
