Vanessa's POV
It was September 1st, and I was at platform 9/¾ with my mum, me walking behind her, pushing my trolley nervously, but eagerly.Did I mention that at Diagon Alley, I bought a snowy white owl named Laya? Just thought I'd tell you!
Anyways, I asked my mum, "Where are platforms 9 and 10?"
"Right there!" She said, pointing to a wall that had two signs on the opposite sides, one saying '9' and the other '10'.
There was a red-headed family near the barrier too, and I let one of their sons go first, which made the mother smile warmly at me.
He ran into the wall and I expected him to bash into it, but he just went through. I was amazed.
"You can go next, dear." The mother said to me, and I looked at my mum, who nodded, and we went straight through. I closed my eyes as we ran, expecting to crash, but we just kept —running. When I opened my eyes, there was a scarlet steam train and a sign overhead that said 'Hogwarts Express'.
I beamed. "We made it!" I said happily to my mother, who grinned and said, "Indeed we did, Nessa! Now, let's go find you a compartment."
We went further down the platform, and then we found an empty compartment. Mom helped me put my trunk and owl in, then I got off for a goodbye.
"Bye, mom!" I said, hugging her.
"Bye, dear! Be good, okay? I don't want any mischief from you!"
"No promises!" I said, and grinned evilly, to which mom laughed and said, "I'll miss you!"
"I'll miss you too, mom!" I said, getting onto the train.
The train started moving, and it was until many "GOODBYE!" 's from and to mum, that I actually processed what was happening.
I was going to Hogwarts!
I sat down and it was a while before I figured I wanted to befriend some people.
So, I strolled up and down the corridor, and on my way, I bumped into a bushy-haired girl who was going in and out of people's compartments, clearly looking for something.
"Hello, have you seen a toad?" She asked me, "a boy named Neville's lost one."
"No, but I can help you find it!" I said, and stuck out my hand for her to shake, "Vanessa Black."
She shook it and smiled, then said "Hermione Granger! Okay, let's go this way."
We went and she kept rambling on about her being muggle-born and all the books she read, it was quite annoying, but I decided not to be rude. I looked into a compartment, and Hermione looked into the opposite one.
"They haven't seen it," I said, turning around to Hermione who wasn't there.
"Hermione?" I called out. "Where'd you go?" Still no answer. I just decided to go ask more people about the toad and look for her later.
I looked into a compartment, and in it was the boy I met at Diagon Alley and a red-head.
"Oh, hey!" I said, opening the compartment doors, "You're the one from Diagon Alley, aren't you? I never got your name!"
I sat down in front of them and shook his hand, then said "Vanessa Black!"
He shook mine too and said, "Harry Potter."
