Vanessa's POV
Hi! I'm Vanessa Black, and I live in Number 12, Grimmauld Place with my mum, Julia. I don't know who my dad is, all I know is his name is Sirius. Every time I ask her, she just changes the subject.
But enough about that, let me tell you about the day my Hogwarts letter arrived!
As soon as I saw it, I freaked out. I was so excited to go to Hogwarts!
We went to Diagon Alley and first went to Ollivander. After many, many tries, I got my wand. It was very frustrating when Ollivander snatched the wands straight from my hand when I barely touched it.
My final wand was made of unicorn hair, quite flexible and 12 inches, brittle. As soon as I touched it I knew it was the one.
Afterwards, my mum went to get books and I went to Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions.
As soon as I entered, a small, squat, smiling witch, who I assumed was Madam Malkin, came up to me and said, "Hogwarts, dear?" To which I simply nodded.
"I've got the lot," she said, pointing to two boys at the back. She took me near them, placed me on another footstool and started fitting my robes. One of the boys was pale and had a pointed face and bleach- blonde hair that was slicked back. The other looked different. With black messy hair that stuck up in all directions, and emerald green eyes with round glasses around them.
They didn't seem to notice me, so I cleared my throat. The blond looked at me and said "Oh, hello. Hogwarts too?" His voice was bored and drawling.
"Yeah."
He then returned to the other boy and said "As I was saying, do you play Quidditch at all?"
"No," he said simply, though he looked a little embarrassed.
"What about you?" The blond says, turning to me. "Yeah, I love Quidditch," I said. It was true, I really loved it. I would play sometimes with my mum in the garden.
"Well, I do — Father says it's a crime if I'm not picked to play for my house, and I must say, I agree. Know what House you'll be in?" He asked me.
"Well, no, but I know what House I want to be in! Gryffindor, where dwell the brave of heart! Like my mum and my dad!' I said enthusiastically.
" Uh—I— don't," said the other one nervously. I gave him a comforting smile, to which he blushed madly but returned.
"Gryffindor?" The blond said disgustedly. "I think if I were in that House or Hufflepuff, I would leave, wouldn't you?"
"Please leave, it would do Hogwarts alot of good," I muttered, and the blond glared daggers at me. The other one sniggered, to which I smirked.
"I say, look at that man!" The blond suddenly said, pointing to the window.
I looked and there was a huge man, pointing to two ice creams to show he couldn't come in.
"That's Hagrid. He's gamekeeper at Hogwarts." The one with glasses said, looking thoroughly pleased about something.
"Oh, I've heard of him, heard he's a sort of savage– lives in a hut on the school grounds and every now and then he gets drunk, tries to do magic and ends up setting fire to his bed." The blond said, and I scowled at him.
"I think he's brilliant," the other one said coldly.
"Do you?" The blond said with a slight sneer, "Why is he with you? Where are your parents?"
"Dead." He said shortly.
"Oh- sorry," the boy said, not sounding sorry at all. "What about you?" He asked me.
"Mum is buying books, I've never met my dad," I said, shrugging.
By then, I was done, and as I left, I told the blond coldly, "I hope you get buried six feet under, and if you die, I'll gladly volunteer to be the one who buries you."
He was rather taken aback by this, which made me smirk.I turned to the other boy, and said kindly "But you, I hope to see you at Hogwarts!"
He blushed furiously and just smiled awkwardly, before I waved, glared at the blond once more, and left.
I met my mum, and we left
Diagon Alley.Hogwarts, here I come!
