I immediately became confused when my butt began to vibrate. Then I realized what was happening. I removed the phone from my back pocket and saw it was a text from Hannah.
"Who's that?" Brent asked.
"It's just Han."
"Oh what does she want?"
I skimmed the text; "Where are you right now? Are you with Brent?"
"Well right now she wants to know where I am, and if I'm with you..."
"That's weird why?"
"I don't know. All I know is she was complaining earlier about how she wanted Zach to come over tonight. She asked how she could get mom to let him come."
"Your mom hates him. It's so funny."
"It's hilarious actually. Especially because he tries so hard to make her like him and he thinks she does."
"Yeah." He chuckled and it almost turned into a nervous laugh.
"What's wrong?"
"Does your mom like me?"
"Um no."
"What?"
"Brent, she loves you so stop. You're not a try hard and you aren't fake."
"I guess... alright."
I leaned over and kissed his cheek. I paused for a moment trying to figure out what to say to Han. "I'm just going to tell her we're going out to lunch."
"Okay" he said. She replied almost instantly.
"And what'd she say?"
"She said, 'Okay well when you guys are finished make sure you are home when mom gets off. both of you. You know she loves Brent, it'll ease her nerves if I bring Zach over later.'"
"Okay now I feel better. Now I know you aren't lying to make me feel better. But okay that's fine with me."
I typed back, "B says okay."
"I wonder what she's up to. Heck. I wonder what you're up to! Where are we going?!"
"Nope you don't get to know because you didn't choose. You wanted a surprise so you will get one."
"Fine..."
In the meantime I turned on the radio to our local station. All about that bass greeted us with no trouble (treble). Both of us began jamming to it and soon enough we were parked in front of subway. We made our way inside and up to the counter. Brent ordered our food, a chicken bacon chipotle with pickles, olives, and tomatoes on Italian herbs and cheese for me, and an Italian cold cut, lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, pickles, and banana peppers on honey oat, for him. I began to sit down at a table when he pulled my hand back up.
"We aren't eating here."
"Oh gosh." I said. He just gave me a smirky smile.
He got back in his car and drove a little further down the road until we reached a big sign that read "Overand Park". He parked the car and we got out. We walked down the trail until we reached the pond where we sat down at a bench and began eating our delectable sandwiches.
"It's very beautiful out here today." I said.
"It really is. But that could be just because you're here." I couldn't help but punch him.
We talked about our day and how it was so far. I told him about the dream I had last night where I was an astronaut and an alien abducted me then cloned me and replaced the real me with the robot me. He just laughed though. We ended up staying out for a few hours. By the time we got back to my house it was like 5. We were greeted by Hannah who freaked out about us being home later. I don't know something about how she needed me home earlier to tell me the plan but that it's okay because mom still isn't home yet. I was confused so I just smiled and nodded. Her phone rang, she held up a finger to us and ran out of the room. Brent and I flopped down on the couch and began watching a Law and order svu rerun. Julia, my younger sister, shuffled her way to the couch as well. Soon followed by Benny, my little brother. Julia is 12 and Benny is 6. I, also, have an older brother named Brandon who is not really around much because he is in the Marines. Benny scooted in between Brent and I. He looked up at me and smiled revealing the huge gap in his smile.
"Aw Benny! You lost another tooth?!"
"Yeah!" He exclaimed.
"That's great Buddy!"
"Yeah be sure to put it under your pillow tonight for the tooth fairy!" Brent stated.
"Already done." Julia said.
"Yeah Jew-wia helped me when Hannah got us from school."
"That's good. She's a great sister isn't she?"
"Yeah." He smiled. "But but you and Hannah are good sissys too."
"Thanks buddy." I kissed the top of his head. He smiled, jumped down from the couch and ran to his room. Hannah came running back into the room. "So here's my plan, we are going have an end of the summer party tonight."
"I like your thinking," Brent said. "We could use alittle party." He pulled me up and spun me around, "right babe?"
I thought for a moment, "I could go for a good party."
"YES."
"But how are you gonna get mom and dad to say yes?"
"I wasn't planning on telling them."
Julia laughed.
"And you aren't either right Jules?"
I interrupted her, "Han I'm so confused how is this gonna work."
"I found a gift card to this overnight getaway spa couple thing that Pete got me for my birthday."
Pete was her boyfriend. Then, he cheated on her with the school hoe, Jessica. So, she moved on and now she's with Zach.
"That might actually work, Hannah!"
"I know it will. So my plan is to take Benny to Brent's house for a sleepover with Jake, if that's alright with your mom..."
"She won't care. That's fine. But what about Julia?" We all looked over to her.
"I'm not going to no sleepovers I'm staying here. I wanna party too!" Jules whined.
"Fine you can stay here as long as you promise not to tell mom and dad," Hannah bargained.
"Deal," she said.
About an hour later Mom and dad came home. They were so surprised at Hannah's gesture and so grateful. They accepted it with no problem. Once they pulled their car out of the driveway we all high fived each other and got stuff ready.
"Han, I think I'm going to let you get me drunk tonight," I told her.
"Oh hell yes."
"Just for tonight."
"That's fine babe. Were gonna have so much fun!"
Brent smirked at me from across the room, "oh yes we are."
