Third Pov

It was a sunny day and little Shiro was playing by the pond with a maid and her mom watching them. Wisteria trees bloomed around the estate, making the estate colourful and lively. Shiro always ask her mom why the trees were there and her mom always answered to keep them safe. She didn't know from what because she was still young and didn't know all the horror of reality.

"Mama!"

* giggle *

Mama! Look what I found by the pond. Isn't it beautiful, mama?" giggled an over excited little girl.

She was holding a lotus in her hands and was dripping with water.

"I'm so sorry Tsukiko-sama. I was about to get it for her but she dove in." Mia muttered with her head low.

"It's fine Mia. I know how she is."

Tsukiko was thankful that her daughter doesn't know about the horrorible creatures in the dark. She was now retired to be closer to her family and to get away from being a pillar. Yes, Shiro's mom is a pillar. A moon pillar to be exact. She was strong, powerful and smart. When she was pregnat with Shiro, she stopped being a demon slayer to take care of Shiro. Since Shiro's father died tragically she wanted to protect Shiro from any harm. But all that happiness and security ended when an out break happened on her 14th birthday.

Orange embers engulfed the estate, burning anything in its path. It ate up the wisteria trees leaving a path of ashes.

From the shadows the multiple demons came out, attacking the innocent people who works at the Moon estate. Outside there was Shiro's mom, a few of her trusted maids, protecting Shiro from the demons. Her mom desprately trying to defeat the demons with her breath of moon technique but soon she was out numbered. Demons surrounds her and attacked her head on. Her body was painted with claw marks, bruises and blood. She was distracted when suddenly a demon leaped at her, making a deep scratch wound on her abdoman.

A painful scream came out from her as she fell to the ground with a thud."Mom! Mom! No!" screamed Shiro with agony and sadness laced in her voice. She just watched her mother helplessly crawling back, away from the demon that attacked her.

" Run Shiro. Run! Don't look back no matter what you hear. Go to Mt. Sagiri. Find Urokodaki, he will help you. Tell him I sent you. Please go and remember I love you. Happy birthday my sweet girl," her mom said as streams of tears were seen on her dirt covered cheeks.

With that said tears started streaming down Shiro's face. Her maids gave her a luggage and giving her a sorrowful smile. " It is a pleasure to serve your family and you till the end, lady Shiro. Now go we'll help you escape" Mia said with a sad tone.

Taking the last glance at her mom and her maids she took her luggage and started running. The burning embers coming from the estate could be seen from afar as she ran up the hills. She knew where she was going and how she'll get there. Tears streaming down her face as she ran away from the chaos. The screams coming from the estate was haunting her. She ran at the direction of Mt. Sagiri, ignoring all the screams she heard. The screams of the maids and others can be heard from afar. Tears were streaming down her face, a pang of pain could be felt from her heart. She knew at that moment she has no one. That she is now alone.

Reaching to the bottom of the mountain after a few hours of running and resting. She was exhausted from all the running and the emotional roller coaster. She looked at the mountain letting out a rigid breath and preparing herself to climb the mountain.

( Moments after reaching the mountain )

Shiro's Pov

The mountain was hard to climb. It was harder because I've been running for hours and my legs felt like jelly. My emotional state didn't help either. After reaching to the top I saw a house. I slowly walkes towards it and knocked on the door. * Creak * The door opened to a man wearing a goblin mask.

" Sir sorry to intrude but are you Urokodaki-san?" I asked the man politely. " Yes and who are you?" Urokodaki repiled.

" My name is Shiro, I am the daughter of the former moon pillar, Tuskiko. She asked me to come here." I croaked. My voice raspy from all the sobbing and panting.

Urokodaki stared at me for a while before letting me in. I got in the house and sat by the fire place.

" So, why did Tuskiko sent you here?" he questioned me.

" My mom died defending me from a swarm of demons..... She..she asked me to come here. All I know is that." I look down to the floor as I said to him.

" Shiro, your mom sent you here to train to become a demon slayer like her. She said she would sent you here when you are ready but unfortunately you were sent here earlier. I won't push you to become a demon slayer without your permission. Will you become one in order to protect others from demons?" He said.

I didn't want to let others to get hurt and lose their families like I did. I won't allow it, I will save them.

" Yes, I want to become a demon slayer" I replied with new found confidence.

" To become a demon slayer you must go through harsh training will you do it?" Urokodaki asked. I nodded confidently.

"Okay. But for now rest up, you'll need all the energy for tomorrow's training.

He gave a futon to sleep and extra set of clothes. He said he would buy more clothes for me since I'm gonna to be living with him temporarily. I know this is where my life will turn a full 180, and maybe this will start a new beginning. I don't really know what the future has in store for me but I hope it will turn out fine.
