If Only You Knew

Chapter 2

Shannon heading into her office to kill that dreaded paperwork that stood before her desk. Successful as she was, she really didn't need to work but she enjoyed what she did. As she looking over, typing up and finalizing everything to file up, Danielle knocked on her door seein that the door was already opened.
"Hey wasup bro. Yo check this out tonight I'm heading to this new club that just opened up it's bout to be lit tho yo come thru." Danielle excitedly was bringing to Shannon's attention. Danielle or D as she's referred to in the office known for making the office the best place to work at.

"Yea man maybe idk I'm jus gona be chillin tonight bruh." Shannon really didn't want to go out her mind for the first time in a while was distracted thinking of that pretty girl in the coffee shop. Looking out her window, she spot Amber not even hearing what Danielle saying.
"Damn Shannon you aite? U ain't a word I just said bro"
"Yeah man my bad jus got this thing on my mind she hella pretty tho and ........"
"Hold on wait bro. The years I've known you you don't be thinking bout no woman you be moving on to the next woman tho. U  said you wasn't the marriage type to settle down."

Danielle's right Shannon hasn't been with a woman for more than an one night stand and even not that long. She had too many to count and the fact was she didn't even think bout settling down. This woman at the coffee if she only knew what thoughts ran in her mind of how much she wanted to give up and settle down. She only met Amber once but the first impression is always big wit her.

"Yeah I know I only met her once and she from New York she just moved out here to Chi town."
"Bro but u just met the girl once you sure about it because all them females some of them they didn't care but you know one that ain't gonna give you up and you know who 🤦🏾‍♀️" Oh damn how could Shannon forget Vanessa Redmond: Blast from the past and regret the fact she trying to so hard to convince Shannon that she and her are still together.

"Yo man don't bring her up. But seriously tho this girl capture my attention not just physically bro but that's natural beauty right there. I gotta get to know her bro for real tho."
"Aite well let me know how it turns out and if she feels the same way I'm happy for u. Peace bro I'm out." Danielle whisk away to her office as Shannon thinking of a way to convince Amber that yeah she's a womanizer but after meeting her, if she only knew what she has done to her to change her mind.

Lunchtime rolled around for amber so she wanted to try someplace else down the strip. She went into subway when she felt her heart dropped. Shannon sitting by the window enjoying her salad when she glanced her way. The flush of red went to her cheeks and she forgot she was next.

"Um yes I'm sorry yes I would like a 6 inch tuna with mayo and provolone cheese not toasted. I'll take the baked lays with a Coke."
"I'll pay for it."  Shannon interrupted the cashier before she give amber the amount. Amber couldn't stop smiling at the fact that this sexy ass caramel chocolate paid for her lunch. Amber joined her for lunch in which the conversation opened immediately

"Thank you."
"Welcome. So how's work so far."
"Busy everyone is getting their 2 pm pick me up but I get off at 4."
"That's crazy because I get off at 4 too. Ha what a coincidence. Have ever toured Chi town since you moved here?"
"No not really I would so love to journey Chicago. I'm a lil nerdy love reading books visiting historic places that sort of kind of thing um."
"I don't mind showing you around this weekend under one condition: have dinner with me tonight."

Oh Lord this beyond words for Amber after what Megan said I mean her one chance of happiness. I mean she's been so lonely for so long no one really notice her.
"Sounds good. What time?"
"How about 7:30 I'll pick you up just write your address here." Writing her address she prints it hands it to her.
"Well I better get ready to head back to work. Thanks for paying for my lunch. See you later on tonight."

Amber leaves subway heading back to work smiling and giddy all the back. I'm not sure what she excited for this weekend or tonight for the dinner date. Only time will tell as to how this night will go. Yeah what Megan said plague the back of her mind we'll just see what happens when tonight will play out.
