Late Night Talks

Hermione Granger sat in shock as Draco Malfoy stood before her looking a little disheveled. The buttons of his shirt were undone a little and his pants were a little wrinkled. 

"Malfoy," she said cooly, looking directly into his cold grey eyes. He smirked his all too familiar smirk as she got up. Hermione forgot that she was wearing an old long shirt and shorts that were too small for her as her pajamas. She blushed and looked at her feet  

"What brings you to these parts of the castle so late, eh Granger?" Malfoy said with an air of confidence. His eyes scanned her body judgmentally. Secretly she wondered what he was thinking...would he think she was pretty?...maybe even..no...sexy?

"That's none of your business Malfoy?" she shot back to him taking a couple of steps forward.

Fuck why did he seem so hot right now? She almost wanted to....no.

He quirked an eyebrow as if to challenge her.

She gave in with a sigh, massaging her face warily "If I tell you...will you actually listen and not be an ass?"

Draco hesitated he wanted to listen to what she had to say, but at the same time he also wanted to make fun of her.

He chose option A. 

They sat down on the edge of the tower, a good 3 feet separating them.

"It's Ron," Hermione began "He...I....we decided to take a break. He said since I wanted to go to Hogwarts that he . wants the freedom to go try out other options." she sniffed and a few tears rolled down her cheek.

Draco, not thinking, brushed the tears away softly with his finger. Hermione looked up in shock and blushed. His hand moved down her cheek and brushed her lips softly. He realized what he was doing and then let his hand drop. 

They sat in silence for a little while until Hermione continued "He said maybe we could get into something more serious when I left Hogwarts. But I know he's moved on." She heaved a sob and flung herself into Draco's unexpected arms.

He held her and tried to stroke her enormous mass of hair awkwardly, not knowing what to say or how to respond to what she's just told him. For the first time he didn't feel like being a dick and saying something mean.

"Er...Granger," he mumbled "I know this isn't a great time time to say this but erm can you get off, you're going to ruin my shirt."

Hermione rose quickly her face soaked with tears and her face flushed pink. Draco immediately regretted what he'd said "Actually Granger, screw it," he said with a grin "Mess my shirt up all you want, I'll stay with you for as long as you'd like." 

Hermione chuckled and put her head back on his chest "Thanks Malfoy."

His brows were furrowed and pressed together with worry as he looked down at her. She reached up to smooth them. Dragging her hand slowly down his face. He closed his eyes and leaned into her touch. 

She leaned her face into his chest and listened to his heartbeat. She waited in silence as the two heartbeats  fell in sync with one another.

"You're not so bad after all Malfoy." Hermione whispered into the quiet night.

Malfoy laughed, then winked at her which sent her heart into a fury of summersaults.

"Guess not huh Granger?"

They stayed like that, laying together for God knows how long. Was it hours? Days?

She didn't care. She could've not moved for ages. Oddly enough, this . felt right to her. Hermione Granger and Draco Malfoy. As much as she loved it, she knew it has to end. So she pushed herself off of him and got up, regretting the decision almost the second she did it.

Malfoy scrambled to his feet, looking a little upset and annoyed "Something wrong?" he asked.

She smiled  "Nothing don't worry about it. I'm just tired" she yawned as if to prove her point even further "Why don't we meet back here tomorrow at midnight." heading towards the staircase she turned around to look at him. 

Draco grinned widely "I agree, see you then Granger."

Hermione made it back to her common room safely, and got into bed. All the while all she could think about is none other than Draco Malfoy.
