Chapter 2

I get to the car and call my mom right away it rings and rings so I hang up and call her again, still, no answer so I try a third time, and this time I leave a message.

Hey mom its Mad just calling to tell you I'm out the hospital and Stacy and I are heading to go get some food. Besides a few bruises on my face and rib I'm fine no need to worry but call me when you get this love you mama

"Okay girl foods on me today where you wanna go? Sushi? Burger? Steak ? choice is yours Mad." She says pulling into the next land

"Well." I say thinking "I for damn sure need a drink or six." I say laughing "But how about we settle for two drinks and Hibachi grill?"

"Yeah that sounds nice n all but I was just there yesterday with Adam, sorry girl otherwise I would."

"Okay well how about we just go grab some burgers and fries? " She nods and change lanes and head back the other way. I text Derek to see if he's hungry and maybe want some food. I should try calling my mom again but she'll call me back eventually.

  "You talk to the girls at all do they know I've been in the hospital ?" I ask

  "Yeah, everyone came to see you, your parents, his mother our friends, even Brian, but... you know with him and Derek history he had to leave because there was almost a fight. Honey he really doesn't want Brian around you he's that jealous." She glances over to me and I just stare out the window

  " I just don't want to see anything happen to you or anyone else, I heard it was a car accident I know you say you don't remember but  are you absolutely sure the last thing you remember was being in the car? Are you sure he didn't put him hands on you... again?"

  " Stop it Stacy !" I half yell "I told you, he loves me he wont do it again it was just a bad night and there was an argument. That's all I can remember but I know him he wouldn't do this to me so can you just drop it already. I'm on the verge of tears and I hear my phone go off, its my mom I ignore it. Just take me home please. I'm not hungry anymore."

I've been with him 2 years... sure he hits me sometimes but he always makes it up he's so sweet and he's just going through a bad time. I think to myself
  "Hey Madison I'm sorry. I just want what's best for you but I'll stop. I but just know if you ever need anything I'm here for you. Just like now"
  She pulls up to Steak 'n Shake and I know I told her I wanna go home but I'm starving and she knows it. I check my phone to see if Derek replied back and he did just he doesn't want anything. I walk over and give Stacy a hug  she cares so much and after what happened I really am glad she's here.
  "It's okay I'm not mad but I understand, also... looks like someone else may be joining us for lunch."
I turn around and see Brian getting out of his car.
He walks over and I swear that he's been working out, and he even dyed his hair.
  "Hey Madison how are you? I heard what happened I'm so glad you're okay." He walks over and gives me a hug. Man.. he smells good. I pull away and look at him I'm not sure what it is but there's this vibe I'm getting from him and I'm kind of not sure how I should feel about it but it doesn't feel like a bad thing.
  "Wow it's been what a month since I've seen you? You look different, like good... different, thanks for coming I didn't know that Stacy texted you but I'm glad she did."
We walk inside and sit at booth in the corner. It doesn't take us all long to decide what we want to order so by the time the waitress comes for the first time we all give her our order.
  " So Brian last time we talked you were talking about the house that you bought how's the decorations coming along?"  Did you hire some fancy interior designer to decorate or you just gonna out some shit together and call it good." We all laugh and he looks at me.
"Well... I was going to but some of us arnt as rich as you."  He says with a chuckle
"Well my husband is the one with the money I'm just the wife that gets the benefits and didn't sign a prenup" we all laugh again. Man this feed so good 3 days of not hanging out and laughing with my best friends. Crazy...
  "Well anyway I wanted to see if you Stacy and Alex wanna come over and decorate for me. If thats not too much to ask you guys seem to low your way of decor items. Especially you Mad. I mean I've been to your house remember.
"Well when you got it you got it. And when you don't your... well you ." Stacy says
"Ha well she has a point I say pitching in you're terrible at picking out furniture. But of course I will and I'm sure Stacy and Alex will too."
Our food comes and I immediately shove fries into my mouth man I've missed this it's been months since I've eaten just a burger and fries and it's so, so good. As I sit there eating and talking to my friends I suddenly I get chills over my body. Brian looks at me and says
"I'm so so sorry but I need to go it was nice getting to spend time with you but I have to go."
I start to ask why but I follow his glaze and standing right there at the door is Derek. And he does not look happy.
"MADISON!" He shouts from across the restaurant. And then and there I know that it's only gonna go down hill from here. And I'm not ready... for what's to come.
