Waking up in the morning was always the hardest task for 16 year old MaisyStella. She was not at all a morning person and anyone who knew her was well aware of that. so when her alarm went off at 6AM, she couldn't help but chuck her phone a across the room.

"Ugh, i'm for real gonna drop out," she closed her eyes again as the first alarm had silenced from the impact but it wasn't long before the second one chimed. "yo i swear." she sat up and stormed over, turning them all off. after quickly checking social media, she went to her imessages and simultaneously got ready for school.

As Maisy brushed her teeth and put her hair up with a headband, she put on her white nike hoodie and overlayed it with a brown acid washed thrasher shirt. Putting on her black ripped jeans, she grabbed her book bag and rushed downstairs. "Hola mamá," her mom was in the kitchen, working on her laptop.

Looking up at the light browned haired girl, she smiled. "Buenos días mija." She greeted, pushing her glasses onto her face. Maisy's mom was columbian and her dad was black, but her mom started teaching her spanish at a young age.

Maisy made her way to the pantry, taking out a granola bar. "I'm hanging out with the boys and reece after school today.. there's a lot going on." She informed her mother, frowning at the reminder about what was going on with her friend. Her mom just nodded in response, engrossed with whatever she was working on.

Making her way out to her car while taking small bites of her breakfast, Maisy sent streaks on snapchat, then got into her Ford Fusion Hybrid. Turning on her playlist, cherry hill by russ being the first song.

She arrived at her first destination, Alvaro's house; and honked to let him know she'd arrived. The Peruvian boy rushed out the house slinging his book bag over his shoulder, then plopped into the passengers seat.

"Hey Mais," he greeted out of breath, dapping her up.

"Hi Varo..." she looked over him. "You good?" she said referring to how he'd rushed out the house.

"Me? Oh yeah, my brother just mad annoying. He keeps asking about the dots and shit, like who in our grade has which.." He trailed off a bit.

"Oh," she nodded and started driving, not wanting to talk about the inevitable topic.

Once she picked up Roshaun and Reece as well, they pulled into the parking lot of their school. The four teens grabbed their bags and piled out the car, Maisy grabbing hers from the back.

"Y'all heard about that test in Mrs. Richmond's class?" Roshaun asked, leaning against the car door.

"Yeah I heard it was hard as fuck, and I gotta take it today." Reece scoffed, chewing her gum.

Suddenly, Maisy's vision went black as two hands were placed over her eyes. "Guess who?" a familiar voice asked, and she rolled her eyes.

"Get the fuck off me Mattia," she grabbed his hands and pulled them off, facing him with a smile.

"Well goodmorning to you too ma," he chuckled and crossed his arms. "We still visiting Mar after school?" He asked his friends and they all nodded in response.

"Yeah, we gotta bring him food," Alejandro jumped into the conversation as he walked over, Kairi following behind him.

The conversation went off into various directions as the group slowly made their way inside and to their lockers. Maisy tuned it all out as she did mlst of the time, and the group took occasional glances at her, which she ignored. All she could think about was Mar and how much time they had left with him.
