The courtyard was filled with people, all trying to see what was going on. One man stood in the center, and a woman stood off to the side. Two men held her arms as if she was some sort of thief who would try to run if provided the opportunity. Yet, she didn't seem like the kind of person who would. She seemed defeated, caught, and ready to be punished. Her head was pointed towards the ground with a face of mourn yet acceptance.
The man on the right who held the woman free then said, "Oh great teacher!" The man said sarcastically, "You won't believe this wretched woman!" The man said. A smirk then appeared on his face.
The man who stood in the center looked over at the woman and said, "Yes, I am already aware." The man looked like any other Jew, he had long dark hair and wore a white toga. He seemed to be nothing special, so why call him a great teacher? The idea didn't seem likely, perhaps he was just another insane man spouting off nonsense.
"Oh good, so good," The man said, his grin growing. It was obvious that the man had something to say, something to shut him down, but what? "Now, as you know, the laws say the woman shall be stoned, what then do you say?"
The question seemed rather ridiculous in all senses, if the laws said something there'd be no reason to reject it. The law was final, no ifs or buts! 'Is he some sort of heretic? Perhaps a leader with a lot of power? There'd be no reason to ask a random man such a question.'
The man who stood in the center smiled and said, "Let the one who is without wrongdoing throw the first stone."
The two men who held the woman seemed surprised, huffed a bit, then walked away letting the woman go without a punishment. The people in the crowd stood shocked, all wondering the same question. 'Did they just ignore the law?'
Author's Note: The punishment of being stoned is pretty much-having stones thrown at the person until they die. Fun punishment aye?
