Childhood Friend

"Hello mom, I just want to clear out something. What's the name of my fiancee?" I asked on the phone. I called my mom right after the class. I'm not yet convinced on what Sherry revealed on the class.

Of all the girls out there, it's Artemis that I'm engaged with?! I can't just accept that. She's so annoying. But she reacted when I called her Arti, then she might be my childhood friend, I thought to myself.

"Oh yes, you already know about the engagement? Have you met her?" asked my mom over the phone.

"It seems, but I'm not yet sure."

"She's the heiress of Evansel Corporation, Artemis Rafiel."

Just as I thought, Rafiel is within my parents social circle, the owners of the Evansel Corp. It's the reason why Artemis reacted that way when I mentioned the name of their company.

"I want to ask you someone else. She's one of my childhood friend, right?"

"Yes, you're right. Actually there are three of you, all of you are inseparable. But I forgot the name of the other girl, but I'm sure that I'm not well acquainted with the parents of the other one."

Is it Artemis that I made my promise years ago? Or is it the other girl? I can't remember the face of the girl, well I can't remember the face of Artemis when we were still children. Her voice is the reason why I remembered her. If it's Artemis, then my search for my first love is already near th end. But if it's the other girl, I have to keep looking.

"Oh okay, thanks mom. Actually, Arti is in my class. She just transferred and started to attend the classes today."

"Arti? Oh Artemis. Right. That's what you call her way back when you were still a child. She approached you about it?"

"No mom. You know Sherry, right? Well, she's the one who told us about it.  Hell, she even announced it in our class, as if it's the latest gossip in Hollywood. It seems that Arti also doesn't remember me."

"Sometimes you really can't understand Sherry's actions. By the way, send my greetings to your childhood friend, er, fiancee. I'm going to a meeting right now. Call you back later."

"Oh mom, don't say it like it's final."

"You're dad decided about it. I think it would be final."

"Oh jeez! Thanks by the way, bye."

I think I need to ask Arti about something. If she's really the girl I made the promise with, then she would know what I'm asking about. Well, I had hoped that my first love was a bit reserved than Artemis. She's actually the exact opposite that I hoped for. But if I can remember correctly, she's sweet when we were still children. Have she changed that much?

But right now, I need to focus first on our mission. I need to do it quickly so that my girl wouldn't be involved in this. I need to make the chain within this week.

The wheels are already in motion, I thought to myself smiling.
