Chapter 6
Visions
Some people would say that dreams are peaceful; they let you forget reality and enjoy your imagination given as you surrender your senses as soon as your eyes close. Well, not mine that was for sure. Whenever I would surrender my senses I would end up screaming awake like always. But tonight was strange. There was nothing to be scared about. This dream did felt like a dream. This time I wasn’t flying thank goodness but I was riding a white horse. The wind felt incredible through my hair. Oddly enough I was wearing silk white gown, in reality I would never wear anything like this. The dream went better as I saw my brother playing football in the middle of the meadow. I couldn’t help but smile at him, he looked so much happy.
As soon as he looked up to see me, he stopped paying and walked towards me. I got off the horse and ran towards him; tears of happiness in my eyes as ran with my arms open wide ready to embrace him. He wiped my tears and held my face.
“Roshine?” he whispered.
“Darren, I'm so sorry. I should have stayed by you; I shouldn’t have gone to the trip I-”
“Rosh,” he laughed as if there was nothing wrong at all. “It's okay, I'm fine, really. I am. I've never felt any happier. I'm free.” I have never seen him like this, ever. He sounded as if he meant it. I wanted to ask more questions but he stopped me.
“Follow the firefly, Roshine, follow the firefly.” he pointed towards his left and their was a red firefly bobbing up and down flying around, perhaps telling me to come with it.
“I don’t understand Darren. What are you talking about?” I asked, confused.
“Follow the firefly,” he repeated but said more firmly than before. I turned around and sat back onto the horse. I waved at him goodbye and followed the little firefly.
It was strange to see that the horse would automatically follow the firefly as soon as I sat on it. The firefly led me to a dark forest surrounded by sharp prickly thorns and leafless, horrid looking trees. Dead trees. But as soon as I rode through the branches and thorns moved out of the way making a clearer path. Before I knew it, it was road! The sky that had turned red and now become dull grey clouds, the kind of clouds that you would know that it would rain.
The firefly stopped suddenly at a dead end. I came off the horse and walked towards the firefly. I was about to touch it till it quickly bobbed up and went into a hole inside the wall of the dead end. I frowned, how was I going to get pass this wall? Was I supposed to climb over it? I studied the wall to find that it was no ordinary wall but a door. There must be tunnel or a mine thought there. The door was ten feet tall and four feet wide. I couldn’t recognise the stone it was made out of but it looked rare and beautiful. It looked as if all the colours were mixing themselves because they looked as if they were moving.
I was so entranced by the beauty of the stone door; the horse I rode on nudged me at the back. I quickly came to my senses and took a step back shaking my head. I looked at the horse to see if it would give me a clue as to how to open the door. It just stood back looking back at me. I sighed, “Well, what do you think I should do to open the door? Say the magic words?” I looked at the door. “Open Sesame,” I said making myself sound dramatic. Nothing happened. I looked at the Horse with an arched eyebrow.
It did nothing for a few moments then walked towards the door and touched it with its nose. I followed it and the touched the door with my index finger. Suddenly a green glyph appears on the door. I grinned at the horse, “Thanks,” I said gratefully. It bowed down and stood back, watching me. I touched the glyph again and it begins to glow. My whole body felt strange, like it was in a trance. Before I knew it, I was touching all over the door wherever the glyphs would appear at.
