My arms hummed with the power flowing through them, originating from the marks at my wrist, water, air, lightning. Those were my elements. I closed my eyes and felt the electric flowing through my veins, radiating from the surrounding air. Meditation was a key part of my training and a way to stop me going bat shit crazy on everyone around me.
"I knew I would find you in here" I felt him before I saw him, he was the only other elemental of air in the kingdom. And my mentor. I turned and smiled at the elder, he was the only man who truly understood me and was also the only one who agreed to train me. He also happened to be the Kings brother, my uncle.
"I had to escape. If one more person tried to put any makeup near me or pull my hair out with a brush, I will personally see to the suffocation of everyone in this castle" Luciento laughed, however offered a look of sympathy. He understood my suffering, submitting to my fathers wish of an arranged marriage to the crown prince of Kasmua to form an alliance between our two countries. Not exactly something I was thrilled about.
Walking over from the doorway of the training hall, he walked over to the chest at the base of the wall of weapons. He was strong for his age; he stood tall, over six foot with grey hair and shinning blue eyes that matched my own. His robes made him look frailer than he was, he does it as a disguise. He believes strongly that power must be reserved for the knowledge of oneself, he believes it gives you more power on the battlefield. He retrieved something from the chest, a long, somewhat thin box. I stood from my spot in the centre of the floor and walked over to him. "What's this?" I asked as he placed the box on the table. His demon chose that moment to enter, a great lion stalked into the room. To anyone else it would've been terrifying. To me he was virtually a kitten. He strolled up to me and plopped his big, fluffy head on my shoulder. I rubbed my head against his and turned back to Luciento. My demon was asleep in a nest he made on the banisters of the arena; currently an eagle. He hasn't settled into one form; some say he never will. He changes constantly, by choice of course, some also say that makes us special. I love Marco, my demon; but I dont like the fact that its just another excuse for people to single me out, I hate attention in all forms. I'd much rather be a warrior, shielded by a uniform and part of something bigger. Someone with a purpose. Not a princess, second in line to the throne.
Luciento waved his hand over the case, manipulating the air so it undid the lock. The case opened and my breath caught in my throat. It was an archer set. A beautiful bow, made from a dark wood, with highlights of blue streaking down the limbs; along the upper and lower limbs of the bow, wood flowed out, almost resembling wings. It was short, strong, used for up close combat as well as powerful shots from a distance. The arrows were my own, made from simple wood carved from trees and feathers plucked from birds. Next to them lay a beautiful cloak, navy, with brown leather finish, that wrapped around my waist. With a hood and scarf to cover my face. Alongside it were two brown leather forearm cuffs with intricate details carved in them.
I turned and threw my arms around him. He squeezed me back and whispered into my ear, "Call it an early wedding present" I tensed, "So that you know to always be who you are and to never let anyone change you" I relaxed into his arms and we stood there for a moment, me wondering if I would ever see him again after Im shipped off to Kasmua. "come along my child, your father is expecting you for dinner" he grinned. I huffed as I went over to Marco. "You must promise me one thing Ida" I stopped with my back towards him, his voice had suddenly become very low and serious, "never let anyone take your freedom, even if it means doing something drastic to prevent it" I turned, confused by what he meant, but both he and my bow were gone. I turned back to Marco who had now returned to the ground and had become a husky, thrice as large as a normal dog, his head almost reaching my shoulder. He walked up to me and brushed against my side, our demons cant talk, but we understand each other. Its a hidden communication.
