They Only Notice my Mistakes

Third Year

Third year has come. Raven feels so stupid. This year will be the best year now, even before going on the train. Lets just say, she grew up. Matured, to be more specific. She swore to herself that she wont go hunting for friends anymore. She wont care about that. She would focus on her business this year, especially her studying. Reading the book her father gave her on Christmas boosted her up. She learned more than anything, to accept things as they are. It made sense that people feel better when the let things go. It happened to her last year, when she saw the opening to the chamber of secrets, if she hadn't accepted everything, she would still feet guilty. When things come to pressure and the need to talk to someone, she has that sorted out too. A diary is enough. She remembered when she wrote everything the same night last year, she chucked the papers away later. But now, she can come back to it later.

When the letters arrived for their third year, that wasn't the only thing. Raven completely forgot about Hogsmeade, she ran to her parents and they signed the form for her. "Bring up some wizarding sweets if you may!" Said her dad. Raven chuckled and was happier than ever.

As she boarded the train, she had a book she brought from diagon ally. It was about everything you needed to protect yourself from entities in the wizarding world. Her favorite spell was the patronus charm. It protected the caster from dementors, things that guard Azkaban. She could finally practice something, she opened the book to the patronus charm and thought of the happiest she ever felt. Something interrupted. "Sorry to disturb you Raven, may I sit here?" Said a familiar dreamy voice. "Oh, hello Luna. Come sit its okay" Luna smiled, then sat across from Raven. "You changed" said Luna. "Huh? Oh.. " said Raven grinning. "You noticed already?" She said. "Something about you. Its not bad." Replied Luna. Raven smiled. The trolly lady came by, Raven brought some chocolate frogs like last time.

The lights suddenly flickered, then turned off. "Whats that?" said Raven, immediately lighting up her wand, so did Luna. Raven opened the compartment door to check whats going on. She saw many other heads popping out of compartments. She smiled, seeing everyone again, she never realized the beauty of Hogwarts before. She snapped back into presence straight away. Everything went cold. She went outside, being the only one there. Suddenly, black shadows appeared in the distance. Raven tried to see clearer, so she got closer, until she realized they weren't shadows, there dementors.

Raven gasped. She threw open the door of one of the compartments and got inside and slammed it back closed. "Merlin's beard! I jumped out of my skin!" Said one red haired twin. On the left side of the compartment was a frightened blonde. The door slowly opened, a hooded black figure entered the compartment. All breaths in the compartment started speeding up, especially that on the left. Raven backed away, knowing what was going on. The figure floated towards her. Raven pointed her shaking wand towards the dementor. Shes back at Hogwarts, and this year they will be studying new subjects. "Expecto, Patronum!" Said Raven, white dust escaped the end of her wand. The dementor backed away, but he was still there. Raven thought harder, everything will be fine, she imagined the happiness is she casted a patronus charm now, in her third year. "EXPECTO PATRONUM!!" She screamed so loud the compartments around could hear her. The dementor left straight away. Raven lit back her wand, and slid on the back of the compartment wall and sat on the floor. "Blimey! A patronus? Where did you learn that?" Asked another red haired twin. "Books.." muttered Raven. She got up, Fred, George, and Draco Malfoy were staring at her. "Sorry, it must have seen me get in here, it probably got suspicious" said Raven. She opened the compartment door, then slammed it back. Everyone inside jumped, "oh my god.. Luna." Raven exhaled louder than ever, she turned back. "Sorry.. again" "YOU BETTER BE!" Yelled Malfoy. "Stop slamming the door! Im surprised it didn't break!" He left, shoving Luna out of the way and out of sight. "YOU SHOULD BE THANKFUL!! SHE SAVED YOUR SOUL" screamed the twins. Raven got out and back to her compartment with Luna. "Don't worry about Malfoy, he's always like that" said Raven. "It's okay, I understand why he's mad" replied Luna. Its good she's not let down by anyone.
