Taylor’s POV:
A locker slamming in front of me snapped me out of my thoughts about Brooklyn and I quickly compose myself. Joshua, one of Brooklyn’s football teammate was leaning on a locker in front of me and staring at me with empty eyes. I wiped a tear with the back of my Han and gave him an uneasy look before finally speaking to him.
"Hey what’s up?" My voice trembled out of my lips due to the heavy beating in my aching heart causing my lungs to rattle. Joshua looked at me up and down, biting his lip. It wasn’t like he was checkin me out because his sea green eyes held traces of sympathy and sadness, like waves crashing against the sand on a gloomy day at the beach.
His pale nimble fingers brushed through his long black hair that hung around his eyes, “Some of the other mates on the football team said you were back today and I wanted to see if you were… okay.” His voice trailed off on the last bit and my breath hitched in my throat.
Brooklyn told me about how Joshua was always interested in me ever since I started hanging out with him. He would always ask Brooklyn questions about me in the locker room, but he said that Joshua was too shy to ever talk to me. Which was weird to me because he was 16 and I was 14. I never really knew who he was until one day I went to one Brooklyn’s matches and he pointed him out to me, even introduced us. Joshua was, of course, shy and timid when we first said our hello’s and then scuffled off onto the field. I didn’t have a problem with him but it was strange to me that he would talk to me now after Brooklyn is gone.
I pushed my books into my locker and lifted my backpack onto my shoulder. “I’m fine.” I lied through my teeth, shutting my locker. Just as I was about to go I felt Joshua’s hand on my shoulder causing me to stop abruptly.
"I-I uh," The boy stammered before shyly taking his hand off my shoulder and putting it in his pocket, "I wanted to know if you would like to hang out tonight."
I wearily looked him up and down, narrowing my eyes. “Sure, I’ll see if Macy cou-“
"No just us." He abruptly interrupted me, his voice a little too eager. Pursing my lips I nodded my head. A part of me wanted to say no because I wasn’t physically and mentally ready to hang out with anyone, especially someone I barely know. But I mentally cursed the part of me that was always too nice to say no, too nice to deny his sea green eyes.
When I nodded my head a smile spread across his lips in excitement. “Great! I mean uh- cool. I’ll text you okay? Yeah.” He jumped up and turned around too fast causing his face to slam into an open locker.
My hands covered my mouth in shock as he staggered back while gripping his forehead. Turning back to me he gave a nervous smile while his cheeks stained red before speed walking away from me.

Sleep.
Sleeping was when I could fall into a deep dream and pretend I was dead. Living in whatever afterlife there is with Brooklyn. Remembering his laugh and dreaming of his dazzling smile that you could only dream of- literally. However, my pleasant dream did not last very long.
My cellphone on my nightstand next to me buzzed and rang causing a very rude awakening. Groaning, I sat up in bed while checking the clock on the wall. 10:30? At night?
I reached for my phone and put it to my ear. “Hello?” I yawned while rubbing my eyes.
"Uh, hey Taylor." Joshua’s nervous voice came through the other end.
"Oh hey." I replied nonchalantly. I was trying my best to sound as interested as possible but truthfully, I didn’t want to talk at all.
"I’m sorry did I wake you?"
