(I've added a song to this chapter. I'll let you know when to play it.)
After Aylen's very eventful weekend, she was happy to be back at Harrington Academy. Perhaps being overworked, navigating crowded hallways, and avoiding peer pressure would bring back a sense of normalcy.
As normal as her life could be from now on.
The Harrington Academy bus pulled up to the prestigious school and came to a stop. A moment later, students were spilling out of the crowded bus.
"Oh, damn," Pat—who was sitting next to Aylen—said. She showed Aylen her phone. "Look at what Emma's wearing to the Halloween party."
Aylen took the phone and stared at the photo of her classmate. Emma Crawley was wearing a barely-there sexy catsuit costume, posing to the side. As if her two-thousand friends weren't already aware she had a nice ass.
"You should ask her out," Aylen nonchalantly said, handing Pat her phone.
"Nah . . . she's way too thirsty. I'm surprised she's still single—usually she's on to the next guy." Pat gasped. "You think she still has feelings for Kaden?"
Aylen shrugged, standing.
"It would be unfortunate if she did, for obvious reasons."
The girls followed the crowd of students out of the bus and onto Harrington Academy's campus grounds. The campus was huge, home to the academy's main building—a large, three-story brownstone—and the student dormitories. Other buildings on campus include the Glass Library, the Stanhope Hall for Creative Arts, and the Asheton House. A bronze statue of the prestigious school's founder, Arthur Harrington, stood tall in the center of the campus grounds. Diversity and culture radiated throughout the campus, with students of all ages and backgrounds commuting and congregating.
"Shit, first period today is world history, isn't it?" Pat said as she and Aylen neared the main building.
"Yup."
"Fuck! I hate having Mr. Stevens in the morning. He's such a fucking asshole before noon."
Aylen laughed.
"To be fair, he's usually only an asshole when you don't do your homework." She looked at Pat. "Which you haven't, I'm sure."
"Can I copy yours?" Pat begged. "Please?"
Aylen sighed.
"You'll never get anywhere if I keep bailing you out," she said in a singsong voice.
"You're right," Pat agreed. "Shit, maybe you should stop bailing me—ouch!"
A second later, Pat was on the ground.
"Shit, my bad," said the skateboarder that had run into her. He took off his helmet. "Are you alright?" he said, extending a hand to Pat.
"Dammit, Buddy," Pat said, brushing his hand away and climbing to her feet. "You know I could report you for riding under the influence."
"Chill out, Pat," Buddy smoothly said, running a hand through his stringy blonde hair. "It was an honest mistake—it's all cool."
"This isn't the first time!"
Buddy chuckled.
"What can I say? You're like a fucking magnet chick."
"Just don't let it happen again," Pat said.
Buddy picked up his electric skateboard.
"You the man, Pat," he said, giving her a thumbs up. "I'll see you in science lab."
